Michelle admits her findings are not credible as the number of respondents was so low. That's true. What bothered me was the type of questions she asked, as if she wanted to prove black Princeton grads no longer hung out with their own kind and shunned the lower class blacks when they graduated. Fek, once you become educated, you tend to shift, don't you? Sure, I still have childhood friends, but we have way different interests now and my values are way different (note to Ray: Michelle notes that races have different VALUES as I noted in a previous post that you took umbrage with). She also voiced anger that Princeton had few "black" associations as the school seems to think they are segregationist. Sure, it's nice for kids to have a group to discuss like concerns with, but she seems to go against integration. And of course, she brought up Affirmative Action and then lambasted Princeton for not offering more black studies and focusing the curriculae and student activities on whites. Funny, I never heard the Chinese or other "visible minority" students complain. From my viewpoint, after reading this piece of fluff (and if she graduated summa cum laude based on this, I shoulda gone to Princeton), I think Michelle put herself outside of the mainstream - she didn't want to associate with whites. And she seemed miffed that other blacks were integrating. And, hey, they graduated and distanced themselves from lower class blacks and focused on what any fekin uni grad does: CAREER. I mean, why ask that question if not to get a guilt trip happening or show her anger that she was always on the "periphery" of white society when other blacks were not. She does not mention any other races except black and white, although in two spots, she equates blacks with "other third world" cultures. WTF? Her phony quest in that crap was to rate the blackness of black Princeton grads before, during and after uni. WTF cares. I did not have an epiphany after reading her thesis. I still say she is racist. And if she got top marks for that paper (which I equate to carrying as much weight as a soggy paper bag), I'd say that was a clear case of affirmative action at work to help a po black chile. FO. In general I agree with your assessment. First the paper reflects a definite bias in favor of supporting "black causes". Given her background and age, it is not surprising she would be typical of crusading young blacks of the era. Unis are still full of them. Secondly, I too found the paper a bit of fluff. Having reviewed many graduate papers such as hers, I can only say her's is typical of the stuff written by students in their early 20s. Quote:

| ^ Give you that, Norton. I was writing papers blasting Mao's cultural revolution when I was her age. 55 Oh, I would still do that. I do not think she has changed at all; in fact, I think she is more a part of her sep/plur camp now, except even more dug-in in sticking with the black community. From a psych viewpoint, it makes sense: she likely felt awkward because of her height and big features, along with being black. Her blunt viewpoints likely didn't win her any social grace points with whites or upwardly mobile blacks either. So, she focused on being more black and in a way chastised blacks who succeeded (ie, the Princeton grads) by asking them if they were more black or less black, and if they shunned lower class blacks more or less, before-during-after graduating. I bet psych majors would have a field day with her. Actually, I would give her more kudos if she had asked white Princeton students of their views on blacks pre-during-post Princeton studies. That's my view: The chick is anti-white. I'd like to see her talk to a group of Chinese, Latino, First Nation, East Indian and other ethnic folks. too. To date, it seems they don't count. Oh yes, I did like the photocopied pages. Looked sort of like CIA sneaky copies. For sure it was done on computer coz the lines are right-left justified. So there must be a disc!!!!!!!! A pity she put a hyphen in Thank-you. I slashed a point for those two booboos, even though she did use some big words like ameliorate and spelled them correctly.
