if jet had lived and worked in one country would she not have earned a right to an opinion? the point --and i can only hope this isn't lost on you--is that there is a difference between facts and opinions. jet needs to realize this...and perhaps you do too. Quote:

| "Opinions", yeah, everybody has one. But what is interesting is what the opinion is based on and the thoughts behind it, IMO. Of course there is no obligation to explain or prove anything, but stating something is "true" without providing evidence and a plausible (as in reasoned) explanation is rather disingenuous in a "serious discussion". But I agree Issues tends to be too aggressive for many, and the frequent bickering and throwing platitudes is tiresome. |

| Sundance is my bff | 'Lay off my wife: Obama 58 minutes ago WASHINGTON (AFP) — Democratic White House front-runner Barack Obama on Monday told political foes to "lay off my wife" amid signs she could be a target for Republicans in a general election campaign. The Illinois senator spoke out following the airing of a campaign ad by the Tennessee Republican Party, which used a remark Michelle Obama made earlier this year to question her patriotism. "If they think that they're going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful, because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family," Obama told ABC television. "These folks should lay off my wife." Obama said his wife was the most honest person he knew, and "loves this country," and described the the ad as "low class." The campaign ad, posted on YouTube, repeatedly featured a remark by Michelle Obama that "for the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country." It juxtaposes her comment with video of Americans from various states, relating why they are "proud" of the United States. Michelle Obama said in the interview that she believed Americans would not be diverted by the kind of campaign tactics featured in the ad. "We're trusting that the American voters are ready to talk about the issues and not talking about the things that have nothing to do with making people's lives better," she said. Obama has a large lead over fellow Democrat Hillary Clinton in the party's gruelling nominating contests, with the next two primaries in Kentucky and Oregon on Tuesday. Only five nominating contests remain in total, and Obama, and Republican presumptive nominee John McCain are increasing their attacks on one another in anticipation of a possible general election showdown. | it seems you have no comments of your own to add, so i assume you won't mind if i do... IMO this is a crafty move by obama. he knows nothing he says will stop the RNC and 527s from lowering the level of discourse with attacks like this, but this will play well with clinton supporters....he looks like a good, stand up guy, and it reminds them of who the real opponent is. btw, isn't just a bit hypocritical for the 'family values' party to be attacking someone's family? | ^ Ya, that was from one of her speeches in the poor black neighbourhoods (CA?) wasn't it? So, did her huz give her that line or is she making policy? America is built on capitalism, that's why it is so strong and creative. IMO. Allow people to dream and make that dream reality. Taxing the crap out of people who developed their dreams while others sought the safety of the saw mill union is not the right way to go. IMO. Sure, I make more $ than the average exec, but I also have more risks. So, why should I pay a higher percentage of my hard-earned pay? To offset, I just take bigger expenses and retirement schemes. Heck, if I want to start up another biz, I need my own capital to bankroll it, and can't write anything off until it generates some coin. Maybe I should just join the healthcare union's staff. 555 |

i wonder if that's because it's not something she said. have you become so desperate (in may!) that you've resorted to simply making things up? Quote:

| Sundance is my bff | As this campaign, and increasingly, Michelle Obama's image has come into question, it kind of begs for a makeover. McCain was very funny and a hit on Saturday Night Live. Do you think we need a fashion makeover for all these people? Imagining the Presidential Candidates in High Fashion Quote:

| post the date and a quote by michelle obama that you find objectionable....and of course, a link. btw, you'll probably have to back to the beginning of the year to find something that you can take out of context and intentionally misconstrue. Last edited by raycarey : 20-05-2008 at 01:38 PM. |

| Rhubarb, rhubarb, rhubarb | Phew! Just waded through this whole thread. Does Mrs Obama look like a monkey? No. Does Jackie Kennedy look like a sea-gull because each of her eyes are on the side of her head? Yes. Is Barack Obama going to be the next President? Yes.
