| I tend to agree with chinthee on this one. Bush gets a lot of flack because he deserve it - in many respects. Sure some of it is over the top, but Clinton got his share of over the top criticism as well - as will the next president, and the next.... Bush gets more than most because he deserves more than most have. Rather than boo-hoo the criticism I am just happy to be part of a society that allows for such heavy criticism of our government officials to take place. Hopefully the red team can learn a few things from the more intelligently formulated criticism.

| Well, this is interesting. Michelle Obama is appearing tonight on the Colbert Report, while at the same time, Hilary is appearing on Thursday night. During all this, Barak has refused invitations to appear. Generally, appearing on the Comedy Central program has greatly helped candidates. So, what to make of this? My take is that Obama is too clever to appear himself and subject himself to further blue collar scrutiny, but at the same time sees the need for his wife to "lighten up" her image. It think it's a winning strategy. Meanwhile, Hilary will likely bomb on the show. She is stiff, hasn't a comedic bone in her body (apart from Bill's - ok cheap shot), but seriously, she will not come off as "cool" or tuned in on this important venue. Advantage: Obama. So, what do women think of Hilary? Many of us supported her early on, but as she has revealed, she has no affinity with women's values so much as personal ambition. Michelle might prove to be the woman's champion in the end, even if she does first favor black women. |

jesus, "old europe"? "freedom fries"?....and you think this admin has taken too much abuse from critics? Quote:
granted he was duped by his underlings, but he should have known better than to take the job in the first place because he just doesn't have the intellect for it. in fact, if anyone is to blame for this bush presidency, it's the bush family and its advisors like jim baker. they knew what a dope he was before they put him up for the job.....but they did it anyway. given the choice, do you think they'd do it again? very, very, unlikely. just go to youtube and watch 41 cry.

| No. Actually I didn't know "Socialism" is something one could graduate in. Are you drunk or has life on the rig blurred the boundaries between reality and imagination? |

| "Projection", Booner, "projection". You've been conspicuously silent on the subject of his actions in office so far, which is quite a relevant chunk of 'reality'. |

| ^ This has been proven to be false already - more spin. You have not commented on the bills and amendments he initiated, nor looked at them, I suspect. This is the reality you do not wish to face, since it would contradict what you parrot from loony right-wing blogs. |

| It is in one of the Obama threads, didn't you read it, it was in response to one of your posts. This is what makes 'debating' with you tiresome, you keep recycling material which has been refuted already. |

| Senior Member | You want examples? Here's just a partial list... Voted against extending the Bush tax cuts on capital gains and dividends. · Voted against permanently repealing the Death Tax. (Called the cuts a "Paris Hilton" tax break for "billionaire heirs and heiresses") · Voted against CAFTA. · Voted YES on raising the minimum wage to $7.25 rather than $6.25. · Opposed the lifting of $0.54 per gallon tariff on cheaper Brazillian ethanol. Said, "ethanol imports are neither necessary nor a practical response to current gasoline prices." · Voted against the bankruptcy abuse bill. · Opposes privatizing Social Security · Voted against drilling in ANWR. · Voted against confirmation of Sam Alito AND John Roberts as chief justice. · Voted against extending the PATRIOT Act's wiretap provision. · Opposed any bans on partial birth abortions. As I said, this guy's a wrong-o... ![]() |
