absurd statements by intolerant religious leaders are this election cycle's side show.

in 1992 it was marijuana use
in 1988 it was whether or not a candidate had ever cheated on his/her spouse.

in 2012, this sort of nonsense won't even be on the radar....it will be something else equally moronic.

and btw, the only reason it is now considered newsworthy, is because the lunatic right is using it to stir up the base....because that's the only way they're going to come out in november. they're never going to vote FOR mccain...but they might vote against obama.

It is the nature of the world. Anything uttered or implied by anyone and the media/bloggers will make it today's big news. Even Sharon Stone is now busted because she said the Chinese earthquake was a result (Karma) of China's bad treatment of the Dali Lama. But where would the Issues Forum be without our daily portion of these wonderfully important and insightful tidbits of media?

^ Aww, but that's true, innit? About the Dalai Lama like Sharon said?
I like how BO is slamming McCain for raising $3.5 mil at a PRIVATE fundraiser with George Dublya. 5555 Oh, jealousy marches in. Didn't BO do private fundraisers? How bout that one in San Francisco where he made the bitter booboo?

wise up jet....it was done in private so that the american public wouldn't see them together. mccain tried to do it under the radar...too bad.

jealousy? obama couldn't care less about the 3.5....obama was just drawing attention to john w. mcsame.

why not? if it works, use it!

you've missed the point.....again.

obama doesn't care about the 3.5 or that the fund raiser was private....it's all about tying mccain to bush.

mission accomplished...and i'm sure he appreciates your help!

keep up the good work!

McCain has done a good job of tying himself to the success of the 'surge' in Iraq, including statements by the DOI (Director of CIA today). And, at the same time, he's done a good job of characterizing Obama as a fluffy inexperienced smooth talking candidate without a plan, who condemned the surge, and who has failed to go to Iraq to determine the current situation. And, because of this pressure, now Obama will go to Iraq, though not with McCain. Obama realizes he'll be overshadowed by McCain in any direct comparison. Obama will organize his own trip to Iraq and try to make himself look like he is in the know, though I can't figure out what strategy he'll employ to do that.

Just me humble opinion, offered once a week for your pleasure.

HeHeHe.. McCain will still lose, but not by as much as first thought. The further scandal that erupted today about the nutcase catholic priest who sounds like a black panther and other factors will keep this a close race.

I'll only be on once a week, but will give you all the benefit of my wisdom.

Just as I would expect a winner to do, Obama is consolidating the Demo party around him. Good move and expected move by a leader.

They're all moving to his HQ for the big push.

He's doing what a winner of a proxy fight does. He's forming his own legacy and number one position in the party right now, right here. This is political M&A, with the winner calling the shots.

But the key aides will be working side by side in the sprawling cubicles in Chicago, effectively part of the same organization, a move that many Democrats praised as a welcome departure from the party’s balkanized tradition. One former DNC chairman, Steve Grossman, however, expressed concern that the demand that staffers leave their families behind in Washington to head to the center of power in Chicago – a common situation for Obama aides – would drive away some DNC staff.

And.., what's with appointing the obscure daughter of an icon, a legend to Obama's VP selection team? What the hell, and who the hell does she really know?

Caroline Kennedy.

Quote:
BOSTON - Caroline Kennedy lives a very private life with a very public profile. It's the perfect skill set for her newest assignment.

As part of Barack Obama's vice presidential search team, Kennedy must function with the utmost secrecy in what is sure to be one of the most closely watched endeavors of this year's presidential campaign.
Yeah, ok, she's private. She's secretive. But what does she know about high level negotiations with power brokers? She hasn't lived in the trenches with the Washington rats.

Bad choice. Purely pandering to the masses trying to tie the Obama brand with the Kennedy brand.

Cheap.
