BO The Waffler!

On April 11, 2008, Reuters reported: Obama declines to criticize Carter on Hamas.
INDIANAPOLIS (Reuters) - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama said on Friday it was not his place to criticize former President Jimmy Carter if he were to meet with Hamas, although Obama said he would not meet with the militant Palestinian group. ...
“I’m not going to comment on former President Carter. He’s a private citizen. It’s not my place to discuss who he shouldn’t meet with,” Obama told reporters while campaigning in Indianapolis.

Five days later, on April 16, 2008, Reuters reported: Obama criticizes ex-President Carter’s Hamas meeting.
PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - Democratic White House hopeful Barack Obama on Wednesday disagreed with former President Jimmy Carter’s overtures toward Hamas, saying he would not talk to the Islamist group until it recognized Israel and renounced terrorism. ...
“That’s why I have a fundamental difference with President Carter and disagree with his decision to meet with Hamas,” Obama said.

I know it is difficult to grasp, but the first comment was about not condoning nor disapproving of the meeting as such, the second comment was after the meeting and on the content thereof.

You're up too late there Herr Stroll. For starters, Hamas?
In terms of gamesmanship - saying one thing one day and another later on referencing Jimmuh.

Obama Tries to Make Up With Florida

Quote:
Because the state's presidential primary was moved up to January 29, in violation of party rules, the Democratic National Committee effectively nullified the vote in advance and refused to seat any of Florida's Democratic delegates at this summer's convention
Quote:
Democratic rivals Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton also signed pledges not to campaign in Florida until after its primary. But once Clinton's 17-point victory was announced that night, she immediately appeared in Ft. Lauderdale to tell voters she would fight to get Florida's delegates seated.
Obama, by contrast, was nowhere to be found and still hasn't visited the state since. Many Florida Democrats consider him AWOL and even indifferent to their efforts to get the DNC to reinstate their delegates and make their January votes count. Obama "has repair work to do," says Democratic state Senator Nan Rich, a South Florida Clinton backer. "Rank-and-file Democrats here are frankly distressed by the fact that he appears disconnected from the state."

But Obama can't waste any more time. Florida is a big, complicated state with a lot of ground to cover, and he doesn't have that much time between now and November to get it fired up and ready to go.

Sen. Robert Byrd, one-time KKK member, backs Barack Obama

Sen. Robert Byrd's endorsement today of Barack Obama was both oddly timed and illustrative of the state of the Democratic presidential race.

As venerable as the 90-year-old Byrd may be in the Mountain State, senatorial support generally offers presidential candidates little more than window dressing. These lawmakers rarely command a significant on-the-ground political apparatus, as distinct from some governors (whose endorsements, because of that, can carry clout). Obama, after all, was embraced by West Virginia's other senator, Jay Rockefeller, which obviously cut little ice.

Still, it is telling that Byrd would join the Obama camp after the candidate's West Virginia massacre
Quote:
As is noted in virtually every lengthy story about Byrd, as a young man he joined the Ku Klux Klan. There has been an ongoing dispute about the length of his membership and his commitment to the Klan's racist cause -- Byrd over the years has minimized his involvement; others have said that in doing so he ignores the facts.
Sen. Robert Byrd, one-time KKK member, backs Barack Obama : Top of the Ticket : Los Angeles Times
--

Comic Jay Leno, during the monologue for his late night show, broached the endorsement. "That's got to make Hillary feel good, huh? Even the Klan guy is going, "I’m going with the black guy.'"

If they did, it makes sense. He's not 100% biased, but he is pretending to be more biased than he probably is, towards Israel. You have to keep AIPAC content, or face a smear campaign.
