Clearly, Obama is a real neophyte in foreign policy or foreign affairs. He needs a very strong and innovative Secretary of State.

My 'go to' man would be Kissinger for a recommendation. Again, making good on your promise to bridge the partisan divide, and at least keep a strong defense position in mind before you give away the farm.

Kissinger is too closely identified with Nixon & Conservatives to get on board w/BO. How about Pierre Salinger if he's still around?

^Yeah, I was just kidding about that, obviously. Maybe Zbibniew Brzezinski could shed some light. I think we need a return to some of the traditional foreign policy values.

But, he was a Director of the Tri-Lateral Commission and would be seen as a danger by the conspiracy theorist left wingers.

True, but I think Obama has common sense. (GWB was a foreign policy neophyte too, and he's been a disaster in foreign policy, IMO. He didn't even know who Pervez Musharraf was.)

As for Kissinger, he was and is, a very overrated man, and his reputation has declined in recent years. (IMO.)

I think Obama will choose sharp people with experience and knowledge in this area.

People that will be appointed will be vetted as usual when President picks cabinet members and advisors.

Not if it's same people who vetted him as a prospective candidate.

Obama Campaign Introduces Customized Lapel Pins!

In celebration of his having traveled to an impressive 57 states in his bid for the Presidency (and to finally put to rest the notion that he abhors patriotic accessories), Barack Obama's campaign has introduced a custom line of American flag lapel pins.

Get yours today and show your support for the least senile candidate in the race!

Sure, just like he did with Wright.

Well, to what I believe will be Ray's utter chagrin, the RACE card is now big in the news. (We already told you so, Ray. Just cause I called it, doesn't mean I am racist, right, Norton the Niglette?)

Racism alarms Obama's backers

Candidate's foot soldiers encounter name-calling, vandalism, bomb threats

WASHINGTON - ...In Indiana, Ross and her cohorts were soliciting support for Obama at malls, on street corners and in a Wal-Mart parking lot, and they ran into "a horrible response," as Ross put it, a level of anti-black sentiment that none of them had anticipated.
"The first person I encountered was like, 'I'll never vote for a black person,' " recalled Ross, who is white and just turned 20. "People just weren't receptive."
One caller...said he couldn't possibly vote for Obama and concluded: "Hang that darky from a tree!"
One Pittsburgh union organizer told her he would not vote for Obama because he is black, and a white voter, she said, offered this frank reason for not backing Obama: "White people look out for white people, and black people look out for black people."

I'm just telling you like it was forecast here on TD, Ray. Read the whole story.

Not sure I read the post where you called it but doesn't matter. Of course race is going to play a part in the election. To state otherwise would be to overlook there are still some who will base their vote purely on the color of the candidates skin. Are the racists of sufficient majority to have a significant influence on the outcome remains to be seen but I believe it will not. Still a large majority of the white vote in the Dem camp will go for Obama and some independents will follow. McCain has his work cut out for him and if he is relying on white racists votes he is in trouble.

Rev. Wright is a buffoon. No doubt about it.

But he's a Reverend, and won't be an adviser nor cabinet member.

After first denying that Hamas supports him and attacking John McCain for bringing it up, BO now says he understands why Hamas supports him.

Heh...let's leave him with his Waffle..

^^ Sure, have a laugh, Norton. The Walmart shopping crowd is America. And the big press is finally reporting its reactions to the nominees. Grassroot whites. These folks will not allow a black in the White House. (second amendment)

No intent to laugh at the Wallmart shopping crowd. The laugh was for your opinion this is "big" news. A young white woman is shocked when she gets 'I'll never vote for a black person,' response from a white person in a Wallmart parking lot is hardly big news.

^ Sorry, Norton. Big coz the lefties denounced me for bringing it up months ago, dismissed it and then called me a racist for pointing it out. It's just coz I and some other guys have been talking about race for so many months, and folks like Ray and Strollums are calling me racist because I have continued to say that race will be an issue in this election. The big news is that the media is finally reporting on local people's racist views.

Obama May Have His Work Cut
Out for Him to Draw Independents

Quote:
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Barack Obama can't rest should he soon win Democrats' presidential-nomination marathon. His next big challenge: to introduce himself to the independents who may well decide the November election, and dispel the doubts and misinformation that have taken hold among many.
Quote:
A focus group of independent voters here Monday night suggested that the Illinois senator is largely identified by his association with his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., whose much-publicized sermons have been called racially divisive and anti-American. Yet Sen. Obama is also identified by many -- incorrectly -- as a Muslim, and suspect for that as well.
Quote:
The upside for the Democrat is that the Republicans' likely nominee, Arizona Sen. John McCain, seems to hold less appeal among independents than he once did, thanks to an unpopular association of his own -- with President Bush.
Obama May Have His Work Cut Out for Him to Draw Independents - WSJ.com

Rather surprising findings among Independents. They're still stuck on the Reverend Wrong issue and on the Muslim misinformation.

Obama has work to do among Independents.

Jettie, surely nothing I have posted would classify me as a racists and I certainly am not naive enough to believe race will not play a factor in the election. If Ray and Strollums are claiming you are a racists for saying what I just said then I expect they will have to apply the same label to me.

In the end, only you know if you will cast a racist vote based on skin color or on who will make the best Pres.
