Plenty of folks spouting about how the Muslim community needs to deal with the fanatical spouting of the extreme Muslim imams and the such - why is reverend Wright so different. Granted the good reverends message is not near as extreme but if we are to expect the Muslim community to tone down the rhetoric with their religious teachers is it not only fair to expect the same of the Christian community? Last bird I dated in the US was Catholic and while the Catholic Church certainly has certain views when it comes to abortion, contraception, gays, and women, there are priests out there that leave these topics to the individual and do not pepper their sermons with it. One just has to have the resolve to find a church/ pastor/ priest that does not diverge too much from ones own personal beliefs.

| Just a thought: Could it be that Obama's association with Wright has been instrumental in furthering Obama's political career, in the community as well as a door-opener - and Obama associated with him inspite of his controversial opinions, not because of them? |

| Sundance is my bff | Meanwhile, experts are praising Obama's gas tax position as economically sound. McCain's and Hilary's positions have been roundly rejected by experts. Obama wins support on opposition to gas tax holiday Quote:

She now wants to cut gas tax so people can purchase more gas! Typical of status quo, politics as usual coming from someone who claims she can bring "change". Hypocritically to the end.

| Funny thing with the gas cos, they don't know what to do with all their money. That's half of why people are balking coz those billions are just sitting on the books. |

| Senior Member | BO's other radical friends is a topic some on the Left would just as soon gloss over. But, as you know, we can't. Inquiring minds and all that, eh? "Apparently, back when he was running for state senate, Barack Obama had fund-raising events at the home of Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn, and there's been some press about the senator's friendship with this controversial Weathercouple. Many reporters are well aware, even though Mr. Obama has described his connection to Ayers and Dohrn as "flimsy," that the senator's relationship with his radical Hyde Park neighbors is actually quite warm, even close." | Is gas tax federal or state level? Fed I would guess, but then why do pump prices differ depending on geo location? (Sure, different cos charge different prices, but are usually within a few cents of each other in the same areas.) |

| Both McCain and Hillary's 'Gas tax exemption' electioneering carrots are utterly, utterly stupid. An exeample of, when it comes down to actual Policy, Obama is in a different league entirely. It's a shame that, in this mass media age, people are being spoon fed with non-sequiturs such as a firebrand pastor, drinking beer and bowling with the great unwashed to show you are a 'peoples person', and so on. Obama, who is routinely accused of being a smooth talking populist with no substance, is the only candidate that has an actual energy policy. The Republicans are of course the 'Party of Denial' (or a party in denial) but Dem Hillary offering this stupidity is a blatant attempt to bribe votes from the short sighted and ignorant. I can only presume that the Democratic superdelegates see right through it. Gas Tax Exemption in a nutshell = Borrow more from China, to pay Opec. It just continues, and exacerbates, current US issues such as over reliance on hydro carbon energy, gratuitous consumption thereof, ballooning government debt and foreign indebtedness, and environmental issues.

| Senior Member | Bill Ayers - the problem that won't go away. How about a picture of him stepping on the US Flag?
