^Jet your theory is very interesting. How about throwing this into the mix:

The Demo party coerces Obama to pick Hilary as running mate. We all know how rabidly power hungry she and Bill are.

She stays silent for two years in the white house as VP, then mysteriously Obama gets whacked. Hilary serves out the remaining two years, and gets re-elected for another four on a sympathy vote.

Makes for interesting conjecture. Oh, and yeah, you're right. The losers on this board who can't entertain views and sources from all political viewpoints are just that. I continue to quote sources from liberal as well as a few conservative sources. For some reason, only the few conservative sources get attacked by one well known leftist US reject.

so much for the 'straight talker'....
Quote:
Cindy McCain said Thursday that she would never release her personal income tax filing even if her husband, Senator John McCain, was elected president. But Federal Aviation Administration records indicate that she appears to be using her personal wealth to help his campaign, through the continued use of her corporate jet.

The New York Times reported last month
that during a crucial five-month period Mr. McCain’s campaign regularly used a corporate jet owned by the Phoenix-based beer distributor that Mrs. McCain heads, saving the campaign hundreds of thousands of dollars. His campaign pays rates well below market ones for the plane’s use because of an unresolved exemption in a recent campaign finance law that Mr. McCain backed.
Quote:
Mr. McCain has said his campaign’s method of reimbursing his wife’s company for the plane is legal, and no one disputes that. But critics have argued that Mrs. McCain is effectively subsidizing her husband’s campaign because either she or her company has to make up for the difference between what his campaign pays for the jet’s use and what it really costs to operate it.
McCain Plane Still Flying - The Caucus - Politics - New York Times Blog

more to come on this i'm sure.

^ Who cares, Ray. Hillary is lending herself money. Wonder if that's taxfree at the end of the year. Maybe pro-rated.

That's an interesting hitch. Still, I really doubt Obama would pick her as running mate. Too much bad blood and baggage, no?

^Well, there may be too much pressure from the Demo political leadership and the Clinton's excellent tactics to avoid this. Hilary and Bill are prepared to take it all the way and 'scorch the earth' I think.

The Demos also see the value of her constituency. This may be a shotgun wedding I'm afraid. That would be sad, because I think Obama represents new values that should be above this....but this is politics. She might be the VP.

Clinton goes from inevitable nominee to on the ropes

Quote:
WASHINGTON - Hillary Rodham Clinton began her presidential quest armed with talent, tenacity, fame, money, connections and a team that knew how to win. Many people believed her victory in the Democratic nomination was a sure thing. Her ultimate failing may have been in believing it, too.
Quote:
Clinton had one big problem out of the gate: 40 percent or more of Americans said they'd never vote for her. She was too polarizing. It's love her or hate her.
[quote][
Quote:
"They had an inevitability strategy, which was sort of a political Maginot line. It was illusionary. You just went around it, and, you know, Barack Obama did that."
/QUOTE]
Quote:
Then Obama's halo fell in some mud. She fiercely exploited his missteps, criticized him in ways sure to delight Republican ad writers in the fall and — lest anyone miss the alpha female point — downed some beer at a bar and chased it with a shot of the hard stuff.
She was still, by all appearances, in it to win it. Burp.

Clintons recent interview with the USA Today has made some waves:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-05-07-clintoninterview_N.htm
Clinton makes case for wide appeal
Quote:
"I have a much broader base to build a winning coalition on," she said in an interview with USA TODAY. As evidence, Clinton cited an Associated Press article "that found how Sen. Obama's support among working, hard-working Americans, white Americans, is weakening again, and how whites in both states who had not completed college were supporting me."
The "hard-working Americans, white Americans" bit seems to be a bit of an issue.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/08/AR2008050802807.html
The Card Clinton Is Playing
Quote:
Here's what she's really saying to party leaders: There's no way that white people are going to vote for the black guy. Come November, you'll be sorry.

And here is an interesting spin on what she might be aiming for at this stage:
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/05/09/clintons-endgame-strategy/index.html?hp
Clinton’s Endgame Strategy?
Quote:
Here are some possibilities:
1. Pay off her campaign debt of more than $11 million, a task that Tom Edsall at the Huffingtonpost says is complicated by the fact that she owes much of that money to Mark Penn;
2. Seat the full delegations from Michigan and Florida. This wouldn’t give her enough delegates to overcome Mr. Obama’s lead, but it would drastically improve her overall popular vote. By itself, an improved popular vote would not win her the nomination, but she could use it as a bargaining chip. And it could help her save face by allowing her to say she fulfilled her crusade for all states to have their say (even if all voters in those two states will not have had their votes count). And there’s the legacy issue, and how her performance is recorded in the history books.
3. Put her on the ticket as vice president, or at least ask her to consider it.
4. Help her exit in some other face-saving way.
Then once the package is worked out, the arguments against Mr. Obama cease.

You still pay US taxes like you're supposed to, Ray? Or did you give up your citizenship?
As I said before, Cindy isn't running for prez, so why should she have to fork over her tax return statements? Chinthee's already pointed out that she heads her family's corporation and she has made lots of humanitarian donations, without blabbing about it. So what if she uses the corporate jet for campaign travel. I bet she and John have used it plenty of times for private trips. Who cares, it's her company.

"One issue she is hearing about already is her refusal to release her tax returns.
When she and McCain married in 1980, they signed a prenuptial agreement in which they agreed to keep their finances separate. The candidate has released his tax returns, but Mrs. McCain told Curry that even if she becomes first lady, her finances will remain private."
“My husband and I have been married 28 years,” Mrs. McCain said. “And we have filed separate tax returns for 28 years. This is a privacy issue. My husband is the candidate. I am not the candidate.”
Cindy McCain on Myanmar, tax returns - Today on the Trail - MSNBC.com

I think you're jealous of her, Ray.

Given it's safe to assume none of the candidates are guilty of income tax evasion, their (or their spouses) individual tax returns are of no interest to me in forming an opinion on who will be the best Pres. Being rich hardly disqualifies one for the Presidency nor does it qualify one as Mitt Romney discovered.

As of today Obama has pulled even with Hillary in the super delegate count 273/273 as more defections from Hillary's camp move to Obama.

Prediction: Win or lose W. Virginia, Hillary will bow out throwing her support to Obama!!!

however, how about some measure of transparency? particularly since her husband (you know, the 'straight talker') is flying around the country on her dime.

Your call RC but for me this is about as important as Obama's preacher, his wife's thesis, a remark he made in gasp..."San Francisco" or some antiwar protester he had dinner with. I will let the Crash McCain crowd revel in their steadfast fantasy that McCain, their "Great White Hope" can actually beat Obama.

All have the same in common with tax returns. Irrelevant to the issues that will make a difference in who can best lead the country. Ronald Reagan knew Jane Fonda and her father Henry, did that make him a "bad guy".

Reagan shook hands with many folks, from time to time one needs to make alliances with the enemy, after all.

But who does the extreme-leftist, America-hating traitor "Hanoi Jane" endorse this time?

Yep, the black racist Marxist candidate!
