Meanwhile, no Israeli's are getting their asses shot off while the American taxpayer is sending their citizens $10,000,000 a day, that we know about.

Pat Tillman was a reader Noam Chomsky and planned to meet Chomsky on his return from service. Tillman also referred to the Iraq war as "f*cking illegal". This information was reported by Tillman's own mother. He doesn't sound like an inbred twat to me. He gave up a million-dollar profession to give his life for his country in an Afghan war that (unlike Iraq) arguably has some logical connection to his country's defense.

House chairman raises questions about ex-NFL star's death, rescue of Lynch

MSNBC staff and news service reports
Updated: 10:40 a.m. PT April 24, 2007

WASHINGTON - Pat Tillman's brother accused the military Tuesday of "intentional falsehoods" and "deliberate and careful misrepresentations" in initially portraying the football star's death in Afghanistan as the result of heroic engagement with the enemy instead of friendly fire.

"We believe this narrative was intended to deceive the family but more importantly the American public," Kevin Tillman told a hearing of the House Government Reform and Oversight Committee, which was also looking at how the military portrayed the rescue of Army Pfc. Jessica Lynch.

i watched a piece of his testimony today, and it will be interesting to see if the american public finally starts to realize that they were duped.

or maybe they already realize it and just don't care.

Here's an article below that was just put out. This is about The Jessica Lynch Myth. Not about Tillman but it is related to Tillman as she testified before a Congressional Committee and it reveals how the military spins stories for the public. A lot of the references to the "Military Times" newspaper.

Quote:
Myth Making

Congressional investigators have discovered that at least one U.S. military official provided the media with details about Jessica Lynch’s heroic acts—a tale that was later proven to be untrue

What is disturbing about this case is that Pat Tillman- a genuine, three dimensional person in real life rather than a macho pinup boy for boneheads- was dishonestly used as exactly that following his tragic death.

Extremely cynical and manipulative, a total lack of respect for the Truth, his memory, and his family- not to mention the American public. In short, a compelling expose' of the Bush administrations ethics in action.

Exactly what I was getting at sabang. Storekeeper seems to be saying it's ok for the Govt. to lie and use his death for propaganda purposes because it means others can't!?

considering how the US military lied repeatedly about tillman's death, why should anyone believe that mccain was tortured before he signed a statement declaring he was a war criminal? it could easily be argued that the military made up this story so that his admiral father wouldn't lose face.

christ if the son of an admiral can't teake the heat of being a prisoner, that doesn't really send a strong message to the world, does it?

The Vietnamese "broke" him.

Suicide attempts and letters supporting his captors.

President? I don't think so.

the general (mc chrystal) wasn't on meet the press, but rather an author who just published a book about what actually happened.

and his research indicates that mcchrystal is dirty.

GREGORY: Jon Krakauer, I want to get to a key element of your book, "Where Men Win Glory," about Pat Tillman and how it relates to this current conversation about Afghanistan. Because it does involve General Stanley McChrystal, who was obviously critical on the stage now and was critical in the Tillman story of well. As a reminder, if you look at pictures of Pat Tillman, the NFL star with the Arizona Cardinals, decides to enlist in the Army, serves in the Rangers after 9/11. This was certainly a big story when he enlisted. And at the time, General McChrystal was actually head of Special Operations command. So Pat Tillman was killed in a friendly fire incident and ultimately won the Silver Star, and that's what you focus on in the book and in a subsequent piece that you wrote for The Daily Beast. And here's what you wrote: "An October 5 Newsweek article [said, about General McChrystal] that `he has great political skills; he couldn't have risen to his current position without them. But he definitely does not see himself as the sort of military man who would compromise his principles to do the politically convenient thing.' In the week after Tillman was killed, however, this is precisely what McChrystal appears to have done when he administered a fraudulent medical"--excuse me--"a fraudulent medal recommendation"--we're talking about the Silver Star--"and submitted it to the secretary of the Army, thereby concealing the cause of Tillman's death." Briefly explain what happened.

MR. KRAKAUER: The--after Tillman died, the most important thing to know is that within--instantly, within 24 hours certainly, everybody on the ground, everyone intimately involved knew it was friendly fire. There's never any doubt it was friendly fire. McChrystal was told within 24 hours it was friendly fire. Also, immediately they started this paperwork to give Tillman a Silver Star. And the Silver Star ended up being at the center of the cover-up. So McChrystal--Tillman faced this devastating fire from his own guys, and he tried to protect a young private by exposing himself to this, this fire. That's why he was killed and the private wasn't. Without friendly fire there's no valor, there's no Silver Star. There was no enemy fire, yet McChrystal authored, he closely supervised over a number of days this fraudulent medal recommendation that talked about devastating enemy fire.

GREGORY: And that's the important piece of it. And, and he actually testified earlier this year before the Senate, and this is what he said about it.

(Videotape, June 2, 2009)

LT. GEN. STANLEY MCCHRYSTAL: Now, what happens, in retrospect, is--and I would do this differently if I had the chance again--in retrospect they look contradictory, because we sent a Silver Star that was not well-written. And although I went through the process, I will tell you now I didn't review the citation well enough to capture--or I didn't catch that if you read it you could imply that it was not friendly fire.

(End videotape)

GREGORY: Even those who were critical of him and the Army say they don't think he willfully deceived anyone.

MR. KRAKAUER: That's correct. He, he just said now he didn't read this hugely important document about the most famous soldier in the military. He didn't read it carefully enough to notice that it talked about enemy fire instead of friendly fire? That's preposterous. That, that's not believable.

A unique tale, given the circumstances of Tillman, and him walking away from a $3 million dollar contract.

Friendly Fire & coverups and coverups in general:

How many of these incidences have happened to others in uniform in the recent conflict, where it was not even pursued?

Having read Krakauer before, I think he's a top-grade author.

Someday, if I come across this book in paperback I'll read it.

Thanks for the recent interview.

i strongly recommend that anyone interested in the cover up of pat tillman's death or the character of maj. stanley mcchrystal (sp?), to go to the following link...

Meet the Press- msnbc.com

and under 'recent videos'

scroll down to "take two" "krakauer recounts the odyssey of pat tilman'.

if this story has legs...and i'm not sure if it does.....mcchrystal will be lucky if he isn't court martialed.

I know I'll be accused of being off-topic here but it's germane in the sense RA ducks and covers from the tough issues like how BO's 'adminstration' is pretty fucked-up. Forget Pat Tillman - old news eh?

Let's take for example Cash for Clunkers: Last week, the White House became very angry, very angry indeed, when Edmunds crunched the numbers and discovered that Cash for Clunkers cost taxpayers $24,000 for every car sold.

Or, how about the burning question everyone is asking - how the Obama Administration can handle nationalized health care when they can't even manage the H1N1 vaccine,

What a bunch of totally inept tossers these people are...
