| Actually, in his honour and respect for Veterans, John McCain was being criticised by Obama for his rejection of a bill that would increase benefits to Vets. |

| The whole issue was over school funding for only three years of service. McCain figures folks will leave the services after that term if they get free education. Armed forces personnel get lots of training within the services, too. |

As for Veterans benefits, I must be honest here. I know some vets who were in 'Nam 40 years ago, and they are getting pretty decent money from the government, today. They are living like kings in Saigon and elsewhere. It make me wonder. I think too much is paid out by the government. Veteran benefits are just another Entitlement. Recieved by a few, and pay for by all.

Add to that disability payments many receive be they ex military or civilian does tend to make for a good income in SEA. For those scamming the system for disability I agree with you. Government at times is too quick to give disability to people that are undeserving.

| Quote: I know a couple of LRRPs, and have a lot of respect for their courage, if that is the right word to use. LRRPs was volunteer all the way, and you could also quit anytime. The guys I know with PTSD, have it for real. I know they do. They also do not tell "stories," but do express worries, sorrow, and all of the additional things that one may go through from having these experiences. There are a couple of guys I know that do to tell "stories," and they are kind of reminiscient and macho about it. These latter guys have been privately accused by some vets of faking it, or exagerrating things. They may have actually been REMFs, and no offense to that. But they played the system. Some guys with PTSD entitlements have been called back to take another test with a psychiatrist to see if they're being truthful or not mis-diagnosed. But if you do your homework, you'll know exactly what to say, and how to say it. Anyway, real PTSD, is real. And it often results in a lower life expectancy. | |
