| Neither McCain or Obama seem to be personally interested in pursuing the sort of smear politics that characterised the Rove/Bush administration. It adds to my estimation of them both, and certainly underscores the substantial differences between McCain and the Republican Right. Jeez, if I was Obama I might even consider offering Mccain some role in the new administration, like Veterans Affairs or whatever.

Better that McCain offer BO a spot in his administration supervising the inner city or some such... | |

| In a general sense McCain seems a lot like John Kerry, an opportunist who married into money in order the pay his way in politics. However unlike Kerry who is generally harmless, McCain is a nasty piece of work. |

| Quote: McCain is not very religious and many of his views are anathema to the religious extremists (or, religious right). He does need a portion of them to go to the polls, however, so he may say some coundbytes, and even waffel if necesarry towards the end of the campaign. Or, maybe he won't. | |

| so the handpicked members of the media had 3 hours to review 1,173 pages of medical records. isn't that about 9 seconds per page? Medical files indicate McCain in reasonably good health |

| Senior Member | John McCain lays the smackdown on BO w/regard to Veterans: [i] take a backseat to no one in my affection, respect and devotion to veterans. And I will not accept from Senator Obama, who did not feel it was his responsibility to serve our country in uniform, any lectures on my regard for those who did. "Perhaps, if Senator Obama would take the time and trouble to understand this issue he would learn to debate an honest disagreement respectfully. But, as he always does, he prefers impugning the motives of his opponent, and exploiting a thoughtful difference of opinion to advance his own ambitions. If that is how he would behave as President, the country would regret his election."

| ^ Didn't he have a proxy? Anyway, McCain went on Ellen Degeneres show, where she attacked him for his anti-gay marriage stance. He held up fine. Let's see BO on Fox. |
