Total only 88%. Reckon a good number of the remaining 12% are Hillary supporters and will move to Obama once the Dems have sent Hillary back to the Senate.

Wishful thinking on your part.
More likely they will either stay home or vote for McCain.

I think they will plug their nose and vote for Obama.

The independents will go for McCain in certain numbers. But it may not be convingly. It's hard to say.

I think that independents will play a large role in this election - at this time of writing.

What polling data are you referring to?

I haven't seen any polling data, and right now, the election is too far away for the polling to be valid.

We'll have to wait and see.

Obama leads McCain in November match: Reuters poll

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama has opened an 8-point national lead on Republican John McCain as the U.S. presidential rivals turn their focus to a general election race, according to a Reuters/Zogby poll released on Wednesday.
Obama, who was tied with McCain in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup last month, moved to a 48 percent to 40 percent lead over the Arizona senator

Swing State Polls Have Bad News for Obama

His weaknesses are most apparent in Florida and Ohio, but in all three swing states, which include Pennsylvania, he has alarmingly low levels of support from Clinton supporters when it comes to a direct match-up with John McCain.

1. there are more than three swing states brit.
2. in spring/summer 2000 mccain supporters vowed they'd never vote for bush...but they did.

anyway, i saw this today and had to post it.

john mccain is dumping his medical records on the friday before a three day holiday weekend.

oh, and only a hand picked group of reporters can see them.

oh, and they can't photocopy them.

oh, and what will be made available is less than half of what was released in 2000...and as we all know, he's eight years older.

This is a possibility.

McCain getting the Center votes. Center voters that can and do vote for either Repubs or Dems based on the candidate and general policies.

Seems like McCain is also in hot water for links to religious nutters.

Quote:
(CNN) -- In the face of mounting controversy over headline-grabbing statements from the Rev. John Hagee, CNN has learned that presumptive Republican nominee John McCain decided Thursday to reject his endorsement.
Sen. John McCain speaks in February alongside the Rev. John Hagee, a Texas televangelist.

McCain later also repudiated the support of Rod Parsley, an Ohio preacher who has called Islam an inherantly violent religion.
McCain told CNN's Brian Todd that he rejected Hagee's endorsement after Todd brought to his attention Hagee's comments that Adolf Hitler had been fulfilling God's will by hastening the desire of Jews to return to Israel in accordance with biblical prophecy.
"God says in Jeremiah 16: 'Behold, I will bring them the Jewish people again unto their land that I gave to their fathers. ... Behold, I will send for many fishers, and after will I send for many hunters. And they the hunters shall hunt them.' That would be the Jews. ... Then God sent a hunter. A hunter is someone who comes with a gun and he forces you. Hitler was a hunter," Hagee said, according to a transcript of his sermon.
In a statement to CNN on Thursday, McCain said "Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them. I did not know of them before Rev. Hagee's endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well."

Today he not only rejected Hagee's endorsement, he also rejected Rod Parsley's endorsement. After nearly a year of actively seeking these endorsements he is now back to square one. I wonder if any other prominent religious right leaders will come out in support of McCain after this!

10 things you should know about John McCain:
  1. John McCain voted against establishing a national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Now he says his position has "evolved," yet he's continued to oppose key civil rights laws.1
  2. According to Bloomberg News, McCain is more hawkish than Bush on Iraq, Russia and China. Conservative columnist Pat Buchanan says McCain "will make Cheney look like Gandhi."2
  3. His reputation is built on his opposition to torture, but McCain voted against a bill to ban waterboarding, and then applauded President Bush for vetoing that ban.3
  4. McCain opposes a woman's right to choose. He said, "I do not support Roe versus Wade. It should be overturned."4
  5. The Children's Defense Fund rated McCain as the worst senator in Congress for children. He voted against the children's health care bill last year, then defended Bush's veto of the bill.5
  6. He's one of the richest people in a Senate filled with millionaires. The Associated Press reports he and his wife own at least eight homes! Yet McCain says the solution to the housing crisis is for people facing foreclosure to get a "second job" and skip their vacations.6
  7. Many of McCain's fellow Republican senators say he's too reckless to be commander in chief. One Republican senator said: "The thought of his being president sends a cold chill down my spine. He's erratic. He's hotheaded. He loses his temper and he worries me."7
  8. McCain talks a lot about taking on special interests, but his campaign manager and top advisers are actually lobbyists. The government watchdog group Public Citizen says McCain has 59 lobbyists raising money for his campaign, more than any of the other presidential candidates.8
  9. McCain has sought closer ties to the extreme religious right in recent years. The pastor McCain calls his "spiritual guide," Rod Parsley, believes America's founding mission is to destroy Islam, which he calls a "false religion." McCain sought the political support of right-wing preacher John Hagee, who believes Hurricane Katrina was God's punishment for gay rights and called the Catholic Church "the Antichrist" and a "false cult."9
  10. He positions himself as pro-environment, but he scored a 0—yes, zero—from the League of Conservation Voters last year.10

i think we'll find that the religious nutters will be staying home this november. and i can't say i blame them. i disagree with them on nearly every issue (except the environment) but they've been manipulated and taken advantage of by the republicans for over 20 years...but unbelievably so by rove/bush.

oh sorry you weren't making a joke.

but it would be nice, wouldn't it? outlaw the poisonous 527s and have those town hall debates that were brought up a few weeks ago....which both candidates have unfortunately backed away from recently.

that said (or typed, i guess), i am somewhat optimistic that this campaign will be more dignified than those in recent memory....in that the most outlandish attacks will be quickly put down/disavowed by the cand
