    England Trip

I spent the month of October in England and we took 4 days to go on a nice road trip. We went from London down to Canterbury, Dover, then to Hastings and sppent the night just outside of Hastings in St. Leonards.

We then continued on to Eastbourne / Beachy Head and on to Brighton. We got as far as Christchurch, just before Bournemouth and the weather became crappy, so we spent the night there. The next morning we went to Bournemouth. Don't worry, I took tons of pictures there.

We then went down to Sandbanks, Poole and Weymouth to go to the Durdle Door and to the marina for a drink. On this night we drove up to Bristol to spend the night and to go to Bath in the morning. On the way back to London we stopped in Windsor.

    So sit back and enjoy.

Too bad we were there on a Tuesday.

Another nice church on the way

    The entrance to the cathedral

We were there at around 1:20 and they let us go into the crypt.

There were a few of these in the cathedral

Thanks, Mathos! Our internet is really moody. I'll work on the next batch, which are from Dover.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself, Natalie, but you really should have made the effort to come to Wales. Canterbury Cathedral is lovely but Margate, Hastings et al have to rank as some of the most dreadful places on God's earth.

Wales is definitely on the list for next time. I wanted to go this time but we didn't have enough time. Just today I got an e-mail from Lonely Planet and it was talking about 10 best places or something like that, and it talked about Rhossili. It looks gorgeous!

Thanks khmen. I really enjoy doing this too - deciding which shot to get, which pics to keep or delete and which ones to post.

Rhossilli is gorgeous but so too are all the other beaches in the Gower. Pembrokeshire has an extraordinary coastal path and the beaches in Ceredigion are superb.

In April we will be staying in a cottage in a place called Dinas. Do a Google for the two beaches there - Pwllgwaelod and Cwm Yr Eglwys, they are very close to where we will be staying. ( about 600 metres from both of them )

Also, Google the small beach at a strangely named place called Mwnt. I fished there some years ago and actually caught fish. Amazing rock formation !

    Dover

I've always wanted to see the white cliffs of Dover. What I didn't know is that they go for miles along the coast. You can see them in some of my other pics.

It was really windy so we had some nice waves

    Poser shot

This bird happily posed for us

If you look on the right had side of the door, there is a heart with a name in it. See if you can read it.

Mwnt is said to sound similar to "Moont", "oo" as the Thai vowel.

Comb Ur Egg loose is pretty near.

The other beach is too difficult to put into phonetics

I haven't been to Dinas in years. Quite a nice little place. When in that area, I usually like to go down to Aberdaron.

One of my friends is actually in a cottage near the beach in Aberdaron this week. Very peaceful, catches up with his reading , and looks at the sea. Not much else to do. Not a bit like Pattaya

Yea great little place. 1 pub, 1 hotel, 1 post office (if it hasn't been closed down) and a Spar.

Last time I was there, it was around this time of year, and the cliffs that back up to the little graveyard were taking a good old battering from the sea. According to one local, a coffin was exposed to the elements after that.
I aint superstitious, but I know when somethings wrong

Magnificent pictures - magnificent country. I spent just over a year in Dorset some 30 years ago; never had I realized there were so many shades of green. Thanks for the memories.

The coastline west of Weymouth is quite spectaular so looking forward to reminiscing over a few your pics Nat.

Devastated that you forgot to include my home town Salisbury during your trip but maybe next time eh?

Wouldn't be your name inside that heart perchance would it?

Great pics. I'd green you but 'you must spread yadayadayada'.
Is that your Chinese cousin Natarie in the pic or are you just squinting because you're looking straight into the sun?
