Day out in London & Pink Floyd concert...

Due to Angola delaying issuing a work visa for me I have had a few days to kill in London... Don't know why they won't issue the visa - probably because I don't have a criminal record. Anyway, it has worked out to my benefit because it allows me to be a tourist in London for a while...

Needing to cure a hangover from the night before I took a walk from my hotel in Pimlico along the river to the Tate modern...

    Passed the HP sauce logo:

Looks like some fairground has set up on the other side of the river....

Had a coffee next to Shakespears old stomping ground...

Then I went and wandered round the Tate modern as it's free.

I liked this practical exhibit the best as it allowed me to drop a much needed log..

People get good money for this sort of thing...

    Stairway...

Then I popped across town on the tube to Knightsbridge. I told the missus I would buy her some diamonds from Harrods so I bought her a pack of cards...

There is a shrine to the Queen of Hearts and her boyfriend of the moment down in the basement....

Wandered back to my digs through the embassy area and booked a ticket for Roger Waters doing The Wall at the Millenium Dome (O2 arena as it is now called)...

80 odd quid for a seat this far back but I read that it has cost 37 million to stage the tour so I suppose he needs to scrape it back...

Great concert though - Gilmour appeared on top of the wall for Comfortably Numb.

If you click on the picture below there is a clip of the concert (don't know how to embed it on here from photobucket)...

Not sure what I will do today... Might go have a look up Campden way.

^ Yeah... last night. I think he didn't make an appearance on the previous night so hit it lucky there...

^^ Thanks Blue - I might hire one of these 'barclays bikes' that are around and have a look around there.

Are there any rumours of the tour coming to Asia? It's not exactly a world tour if it doesn't.

^ I am 40 soon and I felt young there... Was a very 'safe' concert to be at and there was loads of emotion coming out from the die-hard Pink Floyd fans when they realised that it was actually Dave Gilmour doing an appearance.

Look at the age of the performers... 62 and 67. It was a great concert mainly thanks to modern technology backing up these old stars with visuals and effects... Fireworks at the start with a big fighter plane model crashing into the wall... A huge floating remote-controlled pig with red spotlight eyes went slowly round the whole auditorium during one song. The wall was slowly built up during the first half and then acted as a canvas for the cartoons from the movie... then it came crashing down in the big finale...

My only slight criticism is that he tried to make it too political by relating it to todays events in the world... We don't need no education or thought control on those issues.

Surprised you'd recommend there.... It's full of poofs hiding in the bushes isn't it?

It's true mate- lots of gays there, and careful planning is needed, especialy if you have children with you .
That immigrant gay dogging exponent George Micheal lives near there too.
and here he is with the quintessential queer face

but fortunately the park is about 800 acres main area the poofter part the the western heath
'''The West Heath is regarded as one of the most notable night-time gay cruising grounds in London and this has led to a problem with used condoms and other litter'' wiki
Illegal but the police do nothing about it in our sick society.
think its the area with 1 and 5 on the map-easily avoided and don't let the perverts spoil your day out

''Swimming takes place the main pond is only open from May to September, though it is the oldest, having been in use since the 1860''
    mixed swimming pond

free but rather cold, or refreshing in the odd heatwave

also the highest part of london ,some nice views of the city

also kenwood house- free art gallery

    lets look inside

''The house is home to a famous art collection, including works by Thomas Gainsborough, Rembrandt, and Johannes Vermeer'' ! here is his Guitar player from 1670- lovely !!!

was nicked by the IRA scum in 1974 but recovered soon after.
Hampstead Heath - great day out if you want to get away from the city -
but there are no maps there, and you will get lost in the woods and maze of paths -but part of the fun .

Think you,ll find its not the Floyd here LT ,,,,,,,,, this is Waters solo on his own trip . DG is just guesting , rather spasmodically to by the sound of it .
I have followed / bought all the Floyd stuff right from back in the ol Arnold Layne / Syd Barratt days,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, oh happy days !!!!!!!
IMHO the 2 key members of the band were Gilmour and the late Rick Wright RIP
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs
