    Winter in Kent

For those of us stuck with the searing heat of Thailand I thought you might like some of these photos my mum took, lovely snow in Kent, just a shame the sky is so gray.

    Trees covered in snow.

Notice the pond isn't iced over, probably heated to keep her little goldfish warm over the coming months.

    No snowman though.

    Plenty of snowball ammunition though

I'm just writing an email to my mum with a link to this thread, lets take a look at the avatar of the first person that responds to this thread anyway, this thread is proof of the coming of global freezing, you read it here first.

Are you certain the snow on the photographs is authentic DD?

It has the appearance of artificial theatre type stuff they
manufacture with a snow machine and spray about on movies.

I don't think they get real snow down south.

That clipped hedge / thingy in their garden is just calling out for a load of snow to be heaped on it ,, I would say the perfect template / frame for a snowman .

If it ever snowed in Thailand, I would find a safe spot along a busy road, set up a lawn chair, get a hot cup of coffee, sit and watch the mayhem. Could you imagine some of the clowns here driving on snow and ice?

For further enjoyment of the misery of we not in LOS, we got snow here too. This weekend we will get a nice drizzle at +2 C they say, and the night to Monday the temp should drop to -15 C. It should make for interesting driving conditions

The highest things in Kent (outside metro London) are probably oast houses.

I spent 10 years living and working on top of the Downs overlooking Romney Marsh (just outside Lympne) and believe me, we had snow! 6ft drifts of the damn stuff! And when it wasn't snowing, the rain and sleet was bloody horizontal! I was there when the Great Storm of '87 ripped through...... tore the living heart out of the local woodlands. Beautiful place but that escarpment was hell in winter!

The highest point in Kent is Betsoms Hill, near Tatsfield which is where I used to live.
