    A day at Lords

I decided to give work a miss on Monday morning instead of getting off the Jubilee line at Green Park I stayed on until St Johns Wood and treated myself to a day at the cricket. The 5th day's play was open to the general public for a very reasonable £20 a ticket for adults, £10 for senior citizens or free for under 16's you could sit any where in the ground apart from the members area. After a short 5 min walk from St Johns Wood tube I found myself at the north gate entrance, queued up for 10 Min's before entering the ground. After some advise from one of the stewards i took a seat in the lower grandstand.

Unfortunately the alcohol didn't go on sale until 11o'clock so I sat back in my seat with my bacon roll and took it all in, I'd never been to Lords before and was really enjoying the build up to the days play its truly a special place.

    hope you enjoyed it.

1000 odd baht for a ticket, excellent value.

pity there weren't more wickets taken.

how many baht for the bacon roll?

Before long the bell rang in the members stand signalling 5 Min's before start of play so off I popped to the bar to make sure I was first in line for a pint of lager.
The staff were very helpful and gave me a beer straight away ensuring I didn't miss the start of play.

Did you wander round the corner and have a look at Abbey rd studio?

Wish I was sitting right there with you.

Not a cloud in the sky as well.

Died and gone to heaven and thanks for the pics mate.

A green like the Lords playing arena is in order.

My mate Gareth turned up at lunch time so off we went to the nursery ground for a liquid lunch and some people watching.

Here he is with a very well dressed Saffer.

We really should have called the fashion police.

After a long lunch we decided to take a look at the afternoon session from the Upper Grand Stand where the seats all had cushions on how very civilized.

Nothing really happened apart from a catch at slip and a stunning delivery dislodging kalis before bad light stopped play.

The teams both came back on after 10 min's but at 5 o'clock both captains called it a day.
Still we had a great day and if you get the chance go visit the home of cricket.

I took in the third day of the Ashes test in Melbourne Dec '06 and although we got battered (lost with two days to spare) I had a top top day. Walked up on the day and paid $20 aus (about £8 English) and was sat in with the Convicts. Come lunch we walked around the ground and went and met 4 of our other mates and sneaked in the English end.

Sat right by the Barmy Army armed with half a bottle of vodka each got steaming and took the piss out of the Aussies.

Nothing better than the Barmy Army in full voice.

    Sad but true

You Poms certainly know how to support your lot right to the end and in spite of!
