Chitty's discombobulating and intoxicating Welsh glamping expedition.

Arrived the night before the European Cup final hoping the escape the football hysteria that had descended on the U.K and found our luxurious hotel on the beach with five stars, that could be shining through the roof at night full off Scousers.
The ones that couldn't steal a car or hitchhike to Kiev had descended en-mass upon our hotel, must have been the free sky T.V.
Luckily I had packed the glamping gear so all was not lost unless you were from Liverpool.

So as a modern parent the plan is quality family time and NO internet, phones, tablets, wifi etc.
That's why i chose this location, arggg three kids going wifi cold turkey

The first couple of days were the worst, but there was loads to do being located next to a barn farm play centre.
Kept them busy during the day with all the different animals and birds of prey.
Oh did i mention a hurricane, yes that kept us busy one night with the tents flying away.

1000 bank holiday not so happy campers abandoned their camping gear and got in their cars and went home on Saturday night.
The skips were full of tents etc

A few pics from the first campsite...

    Cheers David.

4 am and I was awoken by a tent collapsing on me.

The hurricane had struck, most abandoned their gear and retreated homewards.

    Not the Changsters!

We braved it out and where rewarded with a relatively quite bank holiday weekend and a scorcher of a week.

    Cheers Chitty.

When I was very young we used to go to Tenby on our holidays.

Probably all squashed into a car and miserably sleeping in tents, just like that.

Had tickets to see Nirvana play in Cardiff for 8th April 1994, unfortunately Kurt went a bit click-click with a shotgun so the family made the travel tickets into a family holiday in Snowdonia. Think I still have scars off the fookin' dry fake ski slope up there.

Looking forward to the rest, cheers.

Nice pics, Chitty. These occasional threads remind you just what a beautiful part of the world the UK is (when it's not pissing down and 4c in May).

Btw, I can see Dill having some Photoshop fun with one or two of those pics.

The first couple of days were tough mainly due to screen cold turkey.

Up with the birds and sleep after sunset.

Lots of fresh sea air and fun.

Of course a few beers, Shell Island has its own brew...

The island is cut off from the mainland when the tide comes in .

Plenty of things to do when you put your mind to it , but first a spot of Chitty's speciality sphegetti bolognese with a view.

Followed by an evening entertainment of rock constructions, making fire lord of the rings stylee and visiting the local pagan sea, fire and land festival.
Fooking weird friendly bunch of local folk who seemed very keen to keep me around for the ceremonial wicker bonfire...

Random bike pic coz it's the TT isle of Man weekend. .

Great thread, chitty. Keep the pics & stories coming! Kids on a tech detox - that must've been tough - so kudos to you & the kids for surviving it.

Just like quitting any addiction the first couple of days were sometimes problematic. But the great outdoors took everyone's mind of it.
Turned out to be one off the best weeks in a long time for the Changsters.
More coming when I get the time...

    Nice one.

We'll be doing something similar over summer - this thread has actually reminded me I need to get cracking on sorting out a caravan.

Usually we rent a lake/beach house but going back to basics this time and really looking forward to it.

^^^I thought you were darker & had afro hair, chitty.

I haven't seen pics of Dill's face - only of his abs. Just use the abs & put the face of his avatar, for your photoshopping practice.

    Dill has Abs?

Yes I am darker, I'm black as the ace of spades after a scorching week in deepest darkest Wales.
