Getting wet and wild at Splashlandings Hotel in Staffordshire..

Booked a last minute trip to Alton towers four star Splashlandings Hotel in Staffordshire England as a treat for the family.

The price included access to the indoor water park, a top notch family room with breakfast and Sea life aquarium tickets. Also entertainment and loads to see and do around the complex.

Nice half term getaway for £150 a night

A few pics to kick off the thread..

Water and pirates are the theme..

There's a Morris Traveller in the reception with an aquarium in the back..

Poor b'stards been clamped though, how typically English

A few of the indoor water park..

If you've got kids and you want to give them a special treat, then this place is the business!

    More pics on the way..

In the evening there is a walkway between the Splashlandings Hotel and Alton Towers Hotel, all lit up..

Popped over to see the kids entertainment from a CBBC show...

    Beer O'clock..

Every where you look around the resort, there's something different..

    Time for another beer..

    The waterworld is about 30oC.

Some of the slides go outside into the freezing English winter luckily with hot pools and jacuzzi's.

Quite surreal swimming in a hot spa pool with sleet falling down

That part of the theme park is shut at the moment.

This is the water park hotel doing a half term special, normally in summer it's £350 a night.

    England's Disneyland!

Looking forward to when the kids are tall enough so that we can experience the theme park rides.

One of the good things about having kids is you can relive your child hood.

Forgot to mention earlier the food options and restaurants.

Mexican, Indian, Traditional English, BBQ and untold others all served as a buffet for £20 a head.
TBH made a pig off myself, was top notch tucker.

Looks like a great spot to keep the kids happy. That themed room looks good too.

    Good pics Chitty.

Good to see you enjoying yourself Chitty.

Places of this ilk give great memories, especially for the children.

Is that £350 a night per person or for a family??

Frankly, a week in the Canaries would be a much better prospect at those rates in preference to confinement in a ghastly swimming pool, dining off processed food in a buffet canteen and drinking in some awful homogenised bogus bar bereft of character.

My idea of a living nightmare.

That's the price for a family of 5, so £150 was a good deal.

Would have much preferred a week in the Canaries myself although a quick getaway was enough till the holidays.

The swimming pool complex and the slides where actually quite good fun even for the adults although you might crap yourself on some of them.

These resorts are all about catering for family's albeit at the top end of the family market.

    A few more pics...

A lot more fun than a caravan site next to a wind swept beach in Wales or Great Yarmouth
