    Tour de Yorkshire

Exciting times in sleepy Scarborough , last year saw the towns first KFC open , this year we have the first leg of the new 3 day Yorkshire bike race end here .

Nice touch - many old bikes, festooned the race colours placed about town

Children loved it, as did the usual army of volunteers who love working for nothing; so long as they get to wear a ninety-nine pence vest.

    To the race !
note to self - best leave photography to the pros...

    some weird shadows ...

Spotted a beer tent as it was closing - grrrr

    that specially brewed Theakstons
Tour de Wot would have gone down a treat !

    Tour de Yorkshire 1-3 may
    Stage one

    Some decent photos from bbc

A field of 144 set off on the first stage of the three-day Tour de Yorkshire race

Whitby Abbey was among the landmarks passed on the first stage, from Bridlington to Scarborough

Lars Petter Nordhaug beat Thomas Voeckler (right) and Stephane Rossetto in a sprint finish on Scarborough seafront

    Great work Blue.

Lots of crashes on today's stage - all blamed on that pesky perpetual northern drizzle. Made for good viewing though. Some of Yorkshire's passes are Alpine-esque, real steep spiteful twats.
