    Britains unseen beaches

Nice article in the Mail showing beaches the adverage Brit will never see owing to them being hard to access and freezing cold a lot of the time. Still, when the sun is out and the jobsworths are grinding out their lives , some pretty nice places to enjoy a spliff and commune with nature .

Caribbean? Maldives? No, it's Britain's hidden beaches | Mail Online

For a lot of folk, Brighton on a bank holiday is more like what you are going to get

There is no denying Britain has an amazing coastline it's just that it's bastard freezing 50 weeks of year and luke warm the other 2 which puts you off booking a week or 2 week holiday in the summer on the coast as the odds are it will piss down with rain everyday, hence millions flock to Spain for 2 weeks of guaranteed sun which I will be doing myself. Plus if you look at accommodation prices in UK during the summer school holidays they're a fukin rort.

Three Cliffs Bay in South Wales - went there last year and it's absolutely stunning. This is far from the best photo I've seen of it aswell, but it's stunning from any angle.

And Gerbil, yeah, I can confirm it's a lovely spot to kick back with a nice fat joint!

Constantine Bay, Cornwall - got a little pad there a short walk from the beach. Best swimming late September, early October.

Its a fact . We do have some nice beaches. Pity you need to sell a kidney to be able to afford accomodation. Went to Hastings a couple of years back with my mum. Room in a very adverage B&B was 30 quid.

" Oh, if you will be sharing a room that is only 50 pounds "

Yes......unlike in Thailand where you pay for the room, in the U.K. you pay per head !

Should have taken 2 rooms for 60 quid but mum wanted to chat not having seen me for so long.

This is my idea of hell! The centre front would be my worst nightmare.

Seen a few of these places. Many more in Ireland but as others have said it's often so bloody cold. Still think that the "British Isles" are mile for mile the most beautiful place on the planet. Pity so many Brits live there!

Chapmans Pool is not that special as a beach - sand is silty / dirty and water vis not great. Much better is Worbarrow Bay a few miles west. It's within the Lulworth ranges so only open in the height of summer and weekends. By land it's a fab bike ride across Purbecks from Poole/ Sandbanks - stop in Corfe for a jar or two or cup of tea at the NT tea rooms overlooking the ruined castle. By car, park in the abandoned Tyneham village (evacuated in WW2).

At the far end of the beach there's a natural spring out the cliff side. Often used to anchor just off with friends and go ashore for BBQ. On Christmas Day some people head there to do a pagan style Christmas BBQ lunch with open fires. Mix of stone, medium shingle and sand.

It's called Worbarrow due to prehistoric burial mound there. There's a bit of pagan gossip about the place. A good place to connect with your inner caveman persona in any case

The bay faces south and is a natural sun trap. I often dived there - 12m or so in centre of bay there's some rock patches with abundant marine life. It's a no fishing zone due to all the unexploded ordnance from Lulworth ranges.

Durdle Door is very pretty but overrun with tourists from sprawling caravan parks nearby these days.

They "tombstone" off the arch, occasionally breaking limbs on rocks etc.

Keeps the coastguard in business I suppose.

Cornwall is beautiful. One of the good memories my brain holds is walking on the sand there, absolute natural beauty surrounding me, I sit down on the sand, I fall back, put newspaper over my head. And sleep until my beautiful wife wakes me up.

This is the past. It happened not far from Land's end and Penzance.

    Spectacular landscapes, Bangyai!!

Yet, still have to be a hardy soul to take a dip in Britain's water - even in the height of summer...

    Nice collection.

    Cornwall is blinding too.

    The highlands are exceptional too.

As we all know - it's the weather that kills it.

Up 10- degrees and 50% less rain, UK would have some of the best beach holiday destinations on the planet.

Maybe, but if you pick the wrong beach in Thailand the view might not be to your liking all the time

    Small World!

I used to run along that beach almost every week, 30 years ago.

Bedruthan Steps used to be a good, out of the way, beach in those days but you needed to know the tides.
