    Musing...on a Sunday afternoon

You may spend your days in the sunshine and your evenings under a star-sprinkled baize of tropical sky.

You may live in close proximity to mile upon mile of sandy beaches bordered by sparkling waters flushed with an enticing sapphire tint.

You very well may reside amid a bounty of eateries purveying an assortment of fresh, nutritious and tasty cuisine at extraordinarily competitive rates.

Indeed you may be afforded the opportunity to travel from one end of the country to the other for the price of a pint of beer, and still have change for a bunk-up with a Burmese village idiot come the cessation of the trip.

It is true, you may be surrounded by baying crowds of wanton Siamese harlots eagerly offering their flesh in return for a sachet of fish sauce and a packet of instant noodles.

You may, some might say, live in paradise.

But have you got a bag of McCoys Salt n' Vinegar, a Starbar and a can of Cherry Coke?

    No you haven't...

You've got five baht's worth of Lays orginals and a bottle of Est at best.

    So fuck off!

Korean beer is quite cheap, but tastes no better than Thai beer. The Guinness is the same price as Thailand, so I may need to sell my bottom a bit.

Regardless, it sounds like an exciting Sunday afternoon in Sunny Croydon...

Sunday was once so dull that Hancock's Half Hour made a programme about it. You are probably too young to remember.
I used to listen to the Goons and the Navy Lark, but not until I had read the sunday paper, including all the ads and everyone elses horoscope.
Think your self lucky that your world is in colour. Snooker was a bastard in black and white.

Remember it - watched it as a yoof.

And yes, I prefer a good solid weekday to the Sunday. Sundays mock. Sundays are purgatory. Sundays are Songs of Praise and Bergerac and cold roast potatoes.

Whats wrong with you man? The suns out, the sky is blue, the trees are beginning to bud. Time to fill up on some pad kapow ghai and head out for round 2 of the beer festival, whereby there is a choice of over 50 fine ales to try and drown oneself. Life is decidedly grand.

In a bid to alleviate the tedium, I've done just that.

The crisps and chocolate yielded without resistance but the cherry coke needed some encouragement.

It is, it is, and they are. The cherry blossom, in particular, is blooming with abandon. But, yeh, but no, but, but...just finding me feet - only been back a few weeks.

Well I'm just about to eat a plate of them, with a brace of Auntie Bessie's finest, and some meat, and some gravy, and maybe some vegetables, three kinds of...

A Sunday roast if you will.

To be washed down with two ice cold bottle of Pilsner Erquell and some vino rossi de tavola...(the cheapest wine in the world, ever)

I tend to waddle these days. I find it accentuates the contours of my finely sculpted buttocks.
