I have to go from Heathrow to the "Tottenham Court Road" station. Looking at an online subway map, it looks like taking the blue line to "Holborn" station and then a transfer on the red line to "Tottenham Court Road" station is the best way to get there. Is this the best way to get to this station? Also, can you use a credit card to purchase a ticket?

You can buy with a credit card either from a machine or at the ticket kiosk but you will need a pin number for the card.

Depends a bit on the time of day NJD. If it is the rush hour it might be just as easy to get out at Leicester Square and walk to Tottenham Court Road.

Trying to change tube trains during the rush can be a pretty horrible experience.

An alternative would be to catch the train to Paddington (Heathrow Express Link)

http://www.heathrowexpress.com/

That train goes non-stop and as is faster and more comfortable, then you take the Bakerloo (brown) line to Oxford Circus and change to the Central Line (Red) to Tottenham Court Road.

I'd take the Express route and cut out the tube as much as possible.

Thanks, Dougal. I didn't know about the Express train.

I am having a bit of sticker shock looking at the prices. $26 for a one way ticket! What a ripoff. I don't wonder anymore why my cousin is broke after only three months of living in London!

I would like to see London's major tourist sites on Friday. To view Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, Globe Theater, what form of transportation would you recommend? Should I use the subway, buses, taxi, etc.?
Get a 1 day travel card and use the lot.

Took the Express to Paddington and then changed over to Tottenham Court, Dougal. No problems. Nice trip. Weird Country. I am jet lagged, exhausted, and sick. Just wanted to say I was able to get around London with no problems thanks to you fellows. Now I am going to take some Nyquil and sleep for 12 hours. Talk to you guys later.

Try Veeraswami's in Regent Street, if you want to take out a second mortgage.

There used to be a place called something like 'The Shahminah' or something not far from the British Museum, but ICBW - it was 30-od years ago.

But there's loads of curry houses everywhere. You'll find one.
