    Teakdoor picture auto-resize

    Dear mods and admin,

The new picture resize feature is a good idea to stop giant wide pictures distorting threads but 800px wide is a bit too small and is making a lot of the picture threads a bit ugly with the warning messages.

Can it be increased to 1024 px wide as this would probably be big enough to not have the resize warning bar appearing so often since 1024x768 is quite a common picture size?

Thankyou in advance for your kind consideration of this request.

Nay , 1024 on some laptops negate the resize as this will still stretch the page .

800px would have been a sensible setting about 10 years ago.

1024 is much better idea in 2013.

Maybe, an option to choose what size is best for your screen size?

    Thirded.

Not an issue to a lot of members but for those of us who like to take a picture and share it , Looper suggestion makes a lot of sense. I mean, if he is going to put up some pictures of himself in high heels and other fashion accessories of his whim...........well lets have 'em large

Probably wouldn't require auto-resizing if the respected poster has the farsight to size the image beforehand accordingly [for notebooks or PCs].

Yes but 800 is a little bit too small (regardless of resizing or not) on a modern PC display. Even the smallest displays on the tiny laptops now are 1280 wide. My Samsung Google Nexus phone is 1280 wide (portrait).

Is it possible to action the resizer without the original large pic being down loaded first ?

    Quality bump Mid!

No it is not possible because the picture is often hot linked from elsewhere. All the TD resize does is get you to download the fullsize pic from the source server and then dynamically resize it (too small!) in the browser using a client side script (and also stick an ugly yellow bar across the top).

800 pixel width limit might have made sense a few years ago but today it is dumb-ass and spoils the lovelyness of the great piccy threads.

The obvious compromise for me would be to allow large pics in the top half, travel threads etc and the the rest, lovely pics of Loopy in high heels etc the small size.

It's not the end of the world but when you get quality picture threads like SL's recent Italy thread or any of Tony's threads, then it would be great to see them full screen IMO.

This is a terrible idea. I'd have to completely re-train my fingers to type 1025 when I resize my photo's.

Been talk last few years of changing the forum software to a newer version. Suppose would make sense if it accommodated 1280 pics.

    What's a pixel?

1920 would suit me, Sir, but seems as many of you have Samsung, iPhones, Nokias, etc, probably best to stick with Looper's suggestion.

Seems like a nice idea by Looper, and he does seem to know his stuff when it comes to pictures/cameras.

You may need a magnifying glass to see it (or a microscope if you are on an Xperia Z with HD 5 inch screen!)

^no magnifying glass needed, I can see it quite clearly on this cheap crap HP win8 laptop...

It wasn't my best buy, cheap though (should've got meself an ultrabook or and Asus or Sony tablet with keyboard...). Tried to do a presentation yesterday, but no serial port on me laptop; thought that was one of the few advantages of a laptop...

    For 15,000ish baht, it's ok, I suppose.

I was resizing my pics to under 1mb, but I'll now resize them to 800 pixels, so I have learnt something on this thread.

I've found that if you move your head a lot closer to the screen its a sort of poor mans resize.................hurts the eyes though.
