Do you have "disable smileys" checked in the options box at the bottom of the posting page?

I believe there was an upgrade in the last few days. I lost the ability to start threads, smilies, and even quick quote as soon as I upgraded firefox it was fine.

What have you got Message Editor Interface set to ?

It's in User CP > Edit options >
