India visas for uk retirees in Thailand

Uk retiree resident in Thailand --there seems to be a suggestion that to apply from Thailand means that I must have a work permit which of course I don't have --have retirement visa

Is there any retiree who has recently applied for a visa and what's the procedure --it almost suggests that you must return to your home country in order to apply

    help would be appreciated

I did it not too long ago but it was for an Employment Visa and the one before that was a Business visa.

Both times I had to mail the passport to the USA (3rd party agent) because of what the OP says about a Work Permit. All while I stayed in Thailand. Both Processes took about 6 weeks. I sat in TH for 6 weeks with out a passport.

Tourist visa is easy I think. Should be able to do it online.

I can give more detail if anyone gives a fuck.
