My understanding was that this was the actual control room for early missions.

This building houses a Saturn 5 Rocket laid out in the various sections (stages). We were there at 8;30 am as the grounds opened, so not a lot of traffic as we went during the week.

If you like this kind of stuff it's worth a visit. If not you may as well go fishing.

The service module. They had one on ground level with cutaway views so you could see inside to get a feel for the place.

This was in one of the theaters. Hard to explain but at the end the sun rose in the distance followed by the launch of the Lunar module from the moons serface. Not on a screen, more of a repeatable play set. Hard to explain. I was not expecting the thing to" blast off" at the end.

This is the real Apollo 14 craft on display. You could get about four feet from it but could not touch it as it is a piece of history. A handrail separated it from the crowd. Nice that it was not behind glass or other obstruction. There were other toys for the children to interact with and play on.

A moon Rover on display. You can't see it clearly from the pic but the tires are hollow. It's a mesh screen formed around some type of spring steel. Weight being the issue. Strong but lightweight.

We jumped a tour buss and was taken to various Launch pads around the complex. Space X is renting one of them from NASA.

I was talking to a friend who told me that at one time it was free admission to the Space Cennter. I think they charged us around 80usd for the day. The bus tour portion is included just get on the bus .

The shuttle was placed on its pedestals, then the building constructed around it. A wide pathway winds around it as the pathway angles through multiple elevations.

The pictures do not do it justice. This place is pretty big and you do get close enough to appreciate the scale of things. They had an engine on display that explained how it all works and lots of hands on displays with touch screens that go over the shuttle functions ect.

The Hubble Space Telescope mock up floating nearby. Another building housing two IMax theaters played movies throughout the day. Just pick your time and walk in. One was about a repair made to the Hubble. It was in 3d and really quite amazing camera work. Not Hollywood green screens.

May have been a better pic if the walkway was level. It does give some reference to the layout.

The place was full of this kind of thing. Interactive stuff for the kids. A real all around science project. A 3d kind of planetarium that we sat around a circle to see. Like right out of star wars. There we were sitting around a holograph as a man explained about the moons of Jupiter. Sorry no pics of it. One of the Imax theaters had the latest on Space X launches trials and tribulations as well as the international space station footage. Cool stuff if your into it.

Following the path as it leads towards the darkness in the north. Note a few tiles missing.
