After my recent return to BKK to gather up some things a few things did strike me odd.

Through out all the flooding(And I have been waist deep in it from Ayutthaya, Rangsit and Pin Klao volunteering) I have not seen any of them anywhere. Now I suspect the common response will be that folks are eating them. Could be. I have no idea. I have also not seen any high concentration of roaches either.

In the US while in working in NY they have cat size rats and they are mean and when it floods a sewer they come out in the hundreds. Same to be said about the beaches in LA. When ugly high tides came in there were big F'n rats everywhere. I worry more about them passing disease.

What about people sickness?

I have been digging around on the internet and nothing. A few reports of open wounds that got infected but no outbreaks, Dysentery or Hep.

When Katrina hit NO, there were outbreaks in huge numbers, along with rat attacks and few cases of typhoid.

Anyway just curious. Are they really hiding this?

Of course they are hiding it. When we had floods in Chiang Mai there were dead, bloating rats, fish and snakes all over. People were fishing in the sois that were mixed with the above as well as dog feces. Give it a little time and the truth will be out of how many people are getting sick from this. It can't be avoided.
