    Japan's Meteorological Agency says a 1-m (3.3 ft) tsunami may be heading for the Philippines following the quake

    I was on my yacht in Ibiza in the Med in June 2003 when a near 2 metre tsunami arrived (haven't checked that size, but its based on observing the harbour wall and dingys hanging by their mooring ropes when the water was sucked out). No big deal, just lots of visible undercurrent and a few wet roads onshore.

    There was no visible or destructive wave, just a rapidly dropping then rising water level, by nearly 2 metres in under 5 minutes.
