Heart Attack Grill ,575-pound spokesman dies. ...of pneumonia

Gentle giant spokesman for high-calorie burger chain Heart Attack Grill dies at just 29... of pneumonia

The massively overweight promoter of the Heart Attack Grill, which serves unashamedly high-calorie burgers and fries, has died at the age of just 29.
Friends say 6ft 8in and 575-pound Blair River passed away from pneumonia after a bout of flu.
The larger-than-life character is famous for promoting the gut-busting restaurant in Arizona with its unhealthy menu of huge hamburgers, milkshakes and fries cooked in lard.
Restaurant founder Jon Basso paid tribute to the gentle giant today, saying there was a lot more to the former state wrestling champion than the caricature he played.
He described River as a creative genius who ideas included a warning on the front door of the restaurant from the Surgeon General, urging: 'Go away, if you come in this place, it's going to kill you'.
The entrees are described as anti-arterial and suggestions for a visit include bringing a defibriliator.
'We all have a very, very brief time on this earth, and the measure of a man is how he leaves the world after he's been here, and I can tell you Blair River was my friend,' Basso said.

It was also River's idea that anyone over 350lbs be allowed to eat for free in the diner in Chandler, Arizona, where some of the offerings come in at a mighty 8,000 calories.

'Creative genius': Blair River played up to his caricature of a fat guy in the ads for the Heart Attack Grill

Even the TV dietician Joy Bauer was forced to admit that the restaurant’s sales tactics were 'hilarious and different' and acknowledged that healthy eaters could occasionally allow themselves a decadent pig-out.
Basso contends that his ingredients are all natural — not processed — and that if customers split a 'single-bypass burger' that is 'probably the healthiest meal they’re going to have all week.

He emphasises, too, that he doesn’t 'pander to kids' like some large, fast-food chains - although children are offered candy cigarettes at the Heart Attack Grill.
River's death will only bring more publicity for the originally themed diner - which, along with the ironic nature of his demise, would no doubt amuse him.

They should probably deep-fry him. It's what he would have wanted.

Doubtful he'd have been killed by pneumo if he wasn't so fat though.

is that standard-size for people from Arizona?
We have one from there a few km away who could take over the job when he goes back.
If I went to Arizona I suppose they'd laugh at me, or perhaps offer food, meagre 88kg 187cm that I am.

^ I think you're right; maybe I could hire a 'fat suit' like they use in movies?

88kg is a mere 193 pounds, may be hard to fake an extra 160lbs

    here's some customers and staff

^I only weigh 86kg, but then again, I stay out of Arizona. I could live off of one of those burgers for several days.

The restaurant gets "first dibs" on the heart attack victims and turns them into burger chuck. It's in the small print.

    Real beef, no horsemeat included

Heart Attack Grill claims another victim
    February 17, 2013

Calorific ... a waitress holds one of the Heart Attack Grill's triple-bypass burgers.

The Heart Attack Grill, the Las Vegas restaurant whose slogan proudly boasts that its artery-clogging fare is "worth dying for," appears to have claimed another victim.

Less than two years after its unofficial spokesman, 260kg Blair River, died of health-related causes, another loyal customer succumbed to a heart attack while standing at a bus stop in front of the establishment.

John Alleman, 52 - who like River served as a public face of the restaurant - was taken off life support earlier this week, three days after suffering his heart attack, according to the Las Vegas Sun newspaper.

Alleman, who worked as a security guard, was the inspiration for the "Patient John" caricature that adorns grill's menu and merchandise.

Unlike his predecessor as the eatery's unofficial mascot, Alleman was a relatively trim 81kg - proof, said the restaurant's owner, that heart attacks can happen to anyone.

"You don't have to be tremendously old or fat. You can be in your 30s and 40s and die of a heart attack," said Jon Basso, proprietor of the Grill.

River, the restaurant's the first unofficial spokesman died of flu-related pneumonia, at the age of 29.

The Sun wrote that other regular customers also have been stricken with health related ailments, including cardiac complaints, although it is impossible to know whether their patronage at the restaurant played a direct role.

Basso said Alleman's death was a "wake-up call," but that he would not stop serving Flatliner Fries and their famous Quadruple Bypass Burger - billed as the world's "most calorific" at 9982-calories - as long as there is a public appetite for them.

The Sun reported that both of Alleman's parents died of heart attacks in their 50s. Despite that medical history, Alleman was a devoted patron, Basso said.

"He never missed a day, even on Christmas," he said.

All else aside, from a practical standpoint, how do you even eat this.
You'de have to dissasemble it onto a plate and use a knife and fork.
The whole thing about the 'burger is meat and vegetables between bread so it can be eaten with the hands like a sandwich.

Fat fucks that are stupid enough to eat there daily should be smart enough to know what is going to happen.

But if you are fit, love a good old fashioned burger, fries and a shake you should go. I have been to the one in Vegas with my wife and kids. Go for lunch before all the fatso's show up. Order a regular meal an enjoy. Once every 3 years for me. But if I lived in Vegas I would go once a month on a splurge.

Single bypass with fries, and a chocolate shake please.

Without the excess bullshit meaning 90% of the menu its just what a good burger joint in the states was like back in the 60's and early 70's. Great freshly ground meat, fresh lettuce, onions, and tomatoes on a toasted bun. The fries fried in lard as all great fries were on both sides of the Atlantic until the 80's, and a rich creamy shake.

Fuck that. I could possibly eat the Single By-Pass but you can keep your fries and shake.

I went to Arizona and yes, people do point and laugh at you for not being fat. Without even speaking to you they open the conversation with

    "Are you guys from En-ger-land?"

They were generally nice people though.

I often get questioned about being ill when I return home at my present weight. Having seen you eat you could do the fries and shake mate. Done deal.
