    Imperial Leather Soap

Cheap as chips over here in LOS.

Good quality soap in Aus and the UK.

Here, it just seems to melt away.

Is it a fake, a copy, a forgery?

    I still use it.

What I've noticed is: if you leave it and just wet it a few times, rub it gently, don't place it under the water or anything harsh like that... then after about 2 weeks it turns to concrete. Still works as a soap, but along the lines of WillyWonkers never ending gobstopper...

I noticed this firstly with a bar I left in me 2nd bathroom which rarely gets used other than for a qucik slash and rub of the hands with a tad of soap thereafter... Concrete never ending soap; literally, one 'treated' bar will last you a lifetime - I've thrown a couple out due to unpleasant discolouration, but they never wore down once the initial compacting had taken place...

Should I get onto the patent office?

I used to like the coloured exfoliating soaps they sold here.

Can't get them now so now using the purple stuff they sell.

    Seems OK

Imperial Leather in the 60s and 70s, then experimented before upgrading to Dove, and now (As You Like It, 7th age) it's Johnson's Baby Soap for me.

    How thick is your funk?
May I recommend sea salt and a wire brush?

I just use whatever soap that I collect from hotel rooms. Thats for hand washing.

In the shower I have some of that Dettol shower foam.

I think I have bought Imperial Leather here in Singapore in the past, and it was the same as the UK standard, and not particularly cheap as I remember.

If I recall correctly the 'Bermuda looks nice' lady was Joanna Lumley.

I've used liquid soap for ages. I hate cleaning the soap goo gunk left by the bar stuff. Imperial Leather smell reminds me of my Da tho.

    Ahh, nearly forgot.

Got some Imperial Leather 'for men' today; it's specially for men. It's blue, and it smells very nice, in a manly way. Cost 34 baht for a big pack of 4 which will last me around 6-8 years once they've gone through the two week initial treatment process.

    For men!

Imperial Leather reminds me of places I would not rather return to.

    Offshore IL
    Camps in Libya IL
    Oman IL

    etc

For some reason it was assumed that putting a fresh bar of Imperial Leather in the 0.25 M2 shower cubicle of a portakabin im the middle of the Sahara / Atlantic / Makon Nowhere was luxurious HATE the stuff.

Personaly have been using liquid soaps / shower gels for well over 25 years now.
Said Hamlet to Ophelia, I'll draw a sketch of thee,
What kind of pencil shall I use? 2B or not 2B?

I used to like the old Imperial Leather ad, where the Colonials in the bath are tittering about the "natives are revolting" or something. Classic.
