I would stand up for anyones right to say offensive things, ridicule any religion, jokes about disabilities etc etc, i would draw the line when it incites hatred.
I wish it was not the laws job to protect people but just that it became socially unacceptable.

If your mother is Jewish, you are Jewish even if you have never practised the religion. Where they have come from over the last millenium or two is not relevant to them, its their genetic origins that seem to be important.

I am no expert but remember the arguements in the 1980's when the US courts made their desicions based on opinions from all quarters of the Jewish faith.

As for conversions they are rare and Jews are in no hurry to convert anyone.

Its also about social construction.
I am sure there are many Jews who are understandably uncomfortable about being classed as a race.
We could both spend the rest of our lives taking other peoples opposing thoughts and opinions from Google.

I have read a few articles about this subject and have come down on the side of Jews being 'a race'

If you choose the other side thats your right.
