    Who do you write like?

Pinched this link from a TV thread, pretty cool site....

    I Write Like

It uses some kind of stats analysis to compare your writing style with someone famous. Probably just useless novelty but a smart website, as rather than linking to the author it tells you you write like, it links to an amazon page selling their books.

Apparently I write like Cory Doctorow, some lefty I never heard of. Didn't even think I had a style, thought I'd be compared to some 8 year old story writer.

Who does your writing style emulate?

I came up with Dan Brown

    My sample:
I just arrived in Chiang Mai after riding the famous Mae Hong Son loop from the south. I rode it from the the north a couple years ago.
Lovely road about 600kms of twisting and turning through amazing scenery. The weather was lovely, overcast and an occasional light sprinkle, deliciously cool.
Many of the numerous rice paddies were planted and the rice sprouts reflecting a luminescent sort of green.

Yes, I'm his short winded and boring ancestor. I had to go back several pages to find a post I'd made that wasn't a one liner ! Still, when I tried out the same post twice I got the same answer so that proves I have a talent.
Ah well, just off to finished todays novel " Whore and Police " ..... out soon !

    I typed in

    " I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
    A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze."

It said I write like H P Lovecraft

I remember the stories about Graham Greene entering a couple of 'write like Graham Greene' contests; he didn't win, but placed well...

Looks like I write like Vladimir Nabokov. I had to look him up to even know what he wrote. His most famous work is Lolita.

I stuck in this and it came up with the yank Jack London. Disgraceful.

There was movement at the station, for the word had passed around
That the colt from old Regret had got away,
And had joined the wild bush horses - he was worth a thousand pound,
So all the cracks had gathered to the fray.
All the tried and noted riders from the stations near and far
Had mustered at the homestead overnight,
For the bushmen love hard riding where the wild bush horses are,
And the stockhorse snuffs the battle with delight.
