    Chillout, Jazz type bars (Where?)

Can anyone recommend a decent place with good music at conversation level.

Must be getting old because i ventured out to Funky Villa and it was kak.

Londoner is also shit at the moment and Robin Hood's beer is nasty in my opinion. But then again i don't drink much.

Has anyone tried The Wine Connection?

Saxophone, near Victory monument, is the real deal.

Wine Connection which apparently opened donkeys year ago at 'K village' in the Carrefour Rama 4 complex, might try it this week.

    Saxophone sounds interesting.

It's good but be sure to check what type of music is scheduled. Not always jazz.
    SAXOPHONE PUB BANGKOK THAILAND

Brown Sugar is a smaller place but has some good live jazz.

"If you are tired of sitting in the hotel cocktail bar listening to the two lasses and their boyfriends ensembles warbling Mariah Blinking Carey, Robbie Our Saviour Williams, Tina Tired and Worn Out Turner, and the like, then Brown Sugar on Soi Sarasin maybe what you are after."

I've always enjoyed the Saxophone Pub [at] Victory Monument cirlce. Was there as recently as 3 weeks ago with wifey, daughter and son-in-law. Several bands throughout the evening. The crowd is mostly local with some Westerners who are usually with Thais. Very enjoyable with plenty of vendors outside in which to get some Thai food and a last call beer after the pub closes.

Yep, good place SEA. Upstairs was my favourite hangout there.

Seconded on Brown Sugar too Norton- but only went there once, with an in the know expat. The best jazz/ music clubs have got vintage. Same everywhere.

Soi Sarasin is quite Gay. You might want to be a bit open minded to frequent some of the other haunts there.

Never been to this one yet, only recently heard about it- but being owned by Zanotti it should be a class act-

Vino di Zanotti (Italian) (41 Soi Yommarat, off Saladaeng, Tel. 02-636- 3811-3) Chic Italian wine bar with a winning tapas menu and pizzas. Live jazz nightly. Indoor and outdoor seating. Just down the soi from original fave, Zanotti’s. $$$

The place the OP is looking for is Niu's on Silom Jazz Blues Bar and Restaurant, between Silom soi 17 and 19.

    Edit. Here's the website http://www.niusonsilom.com/

Theirs a small open air bar on the way out to victory monument called The Sky Train Bar.

Its actually on the roof of a building that looks out over Bangkok and the sky train, I like it because ones outside in the open air with great views over Bangkok.

The boys crank up an acoustic set later on into the night, Mainly Thai with a scattering of Farang, get there early for a seat. Mainly laid back set up for a chat and chilled vibe.

    Might be worth a look.

Noodles been there, what ya recon Noodles. ?

Yes, I enjoyed it, but for what the OP is looking for I believe the place I mentioned on Silom road is the best place in Bangkok, with it's wine selection of over 300 varieties in a cellar that you can go and have a browse in, it's worth taking a look. Check the link out that I provided.
