    What's sex?

We all like talking about sex, Goddess for example. IMO, sex, for whatever reason, facinates us and the thought of it makes us feel good.

Many would agree that sex should be done between a husband and wife within wedlock. Although that "this is how respectable poeple f**k" attitude seems to becoming less and less common, it's still there. People are still judged by their sex lives.

The question is, why does society like to stamp all these morals on sex? Why is it considered disgusting and immoral in certain situations, and perfectly all right in other situations? Why are promiscuous people often thought to have "weak morals"?

Now, people often argue that sex can be dangerous and have serious consequences. Well, that's completely true. However, moutain climbing is far more dangerous than sex, and the consequences can be far more dire. And yet, I've yet to meet someone that calls moutain climbers immoral. Sure, some people may think that risking your life to climb a rock may be a little stupid, but certainly not immoral. In fact, most people who have summitted Everest are considered heroes by many. So why is someone who has a lot of casual sex and hasn't made a baby or caught an STD considered a hero in society?

Sexual morals. Why do we have them? What is their purpose? What are yours, and why? Do you think we take sex too seriously? If so, why? Do you think we don't sex seriously enough? If so, why?

I am talking about completely consentual sex. Rape is, obviously, a whole other story.

So you mean to say that the gals down soi yodsak don't consider me a sexual hero?

I think you will find that sexual morals are forced down your throat as a child depending on what religion your parents are, except they call it religious studies at the schools in the UK.

I have very few sexual 'morals' as such, but I do have preferences

I would say complete honesty and openness is the only moral I bring into the bedroom

Its good to see you gals getting on so well together.

I saw this earlier and wondered if it might be better in the Members forum but it does seem a fair question.
Sex is so all encompassing in our evolution and it does occur to me that the question posed seeks to delve into the 'why is it so' sought of area.
How we view sex is made up of many variables in my opinion.
For a start, there is a generational issue as the way sex was viewed by our grandparents is vastly different to the way it is viewed by us or how our grandchildren will. Some see this as promiscuity. I see it as a modernization in the same way as music your parents liked was hated by you. As I grew older I developed the same way of thinking as my parents though.

Sex also has cultural differences with Thailand being a good case in point. We in the west are brought up being told that sex is this and that. That prostitutes are low on the social scale while in SE Asia prostitution is not seen in the same way and parents will often spend ten's of thousands grooming their daughters so that they can be better prostitutes.

Some Westerners are abhored by the idea but who is to say that they are right?

I also think that sex is used by many as a way of measuring someones own self worth. ie. Everyone inately wants to be seen as attractive and the ultimate goal for some in proving this self worth is to have someone desire them so much that they want to bed them.

Sex is the way in which we as a race continue and I have always found it interesting how different cultures approach it.
For instance in France an adulterous afternoon love session with someone outside of a/your marriage is almost common place, though not discussed.

It is not an easy question to answer NWA given that sex is so inextricably linked with so many different and varying aspects of our lives and cultures.

Now, here is the thing. Before the dog posts his normal reply about my age yadda, yadda, yadda and not being able to have sex any more etc, etc, etc the fact is that although I have had plenty of it in my life, it has never been a guiding factor in relationships. That said, I dont look down on folks who are compelled to have sex at every opportunity.

In my humble opinion "sex is sex"! It's like having foodies, but more purposeful. We have an endless drive to get attached with each other and to verify those attachments through sexual pursuits. That's all it's really doing. Of course, I have very different sexual beliefs than most people. Personally, I think sex is just a way to bring a relationship to a higher level. It doesn't necessarily have to be a lifelong partner you're doing it with, but it does have to be someone of great importance to you. For instance, though some view it as repugnant, I'd have sex with my best friend if she so desired. Of course, being heterosexual, this is exclusive to female friends, which is unfortunate, since one can only reach that level of understanding with someone of the sex one views sexually.

Personally, I believe that people have placed too little value in sex. Of course, I also believe that people have placed too much value in sex.

For instance; they believe it to be the be-all-end-all of relationships. This is not so. The be-all-end-all of conversations is the emotions involved, whilst people place too much value on the physical aspect as a judge of how well a relationship is going, fcuking idiots!

However, people place far too little value in it as a bonding action. They believe it something to merely "relieve or reduce stress." They use it as a simple tool for reproduction, or for pleasure. Either of these is not the true purpose of sex in my eyes.

To me sex dosen't mean everything. I have friends that would jump off a cliff if they hadn't had anything sexual in a few days! And others that can't be satisfied with just one woman.

As most of my friends are older males I've grown through the years and listened to what they have had to say and I have also seen their attitudes towards women and sex.

This has had a big part to play on my attitudes toward sex for sure and made me more cautious.
    Welcome to the jungle!

This is a different slant to the church/family/society/etc. "shoving it down your throat" perspective. My view is that the "issues" with sex stems from male ego.

    A quick tale...

A guy I worked with married a co-worker who had, over the years, slept with several other fellow workers - ie. the guys mates. Each time was during a relationship, so it wasn't like she was putting it about on the side. Anyway, at a work party, this guy gets a bit antsy as his wife is talking and laughing with one of the old flames. Eventually, pissed off with her husbands antics she yells out...unfortunately just as a song finished..."Glen, get over it! I fucked him! That's all! A fuck is just a fuck! Grow up!".

While appreciating the practicality of the wife's viewpoint, every man in the place cringed and thanked Christ they weren't in Glens shoes...

    So...

Most guys DO NOT want to be in a relationship with a woman who sleeps around. Nothing to do with church, family, religion, whatever...it is simple ego. Few men are happy with the fact someone else has touched his property!

So...when a man who is in a relationship dips his wick elsewhere, he feels an element of remorse. Not for any puritanical reasons. He just knows he is acting a double standard. Doesn't necessarily stop him...but it just adds that little downer to the whole thing. Some shrug it off. Some do stupid things like go home and confess their misdemeanour to the missus.

Either way...it all becomes a lot more complex than it really should be...

dont get me wrong - it can be great - but too often you end up with a limp starfish - sweaty groping - over in 10 minutes - and then the tart wents u to entertain her for the next few hours....

or even worse she says i'm not finished yet!
