    Wholesale Medications in Bangkok

Since TD has a very refreshing new start this rainy July morning , I'd like to contribute to the forum in a very positive way by sharing this good information.

If you have ever wondered why drug stores are about as common as 7-11's in Thailand it is probably because of the incredible markups they are making on meds.

This business card is from a wholesaler in central Bangkok they also have store front where anyone can walk in and make small purchases - at half the cost most other pharmacies charge for the same products.

You can phone them and price the needed medications , they may even ship within Thailand if you pay via bank transfer.

Thanks Noodle , I hope to contribute to the forum one day as much as you do.
But for the folks interested in getting good prices on meds they or someone they know take daily , this location offers very good savings.

    My gracious apologies Mr. Noodle.

Good find Ghandi. Any saving people can make is a bonus.

Obviously there are a lot of variables out there and buying at wholesale prices can save you a minimum of 35% mark up.

Now if this is not part of the sales pitch, I don't know what is.

Are you and Ghandi the same person by any chance?

No noodles, just have some inside information.

Just wait a couple of years until your kids have drained your savings and you need your daily fix of viagra. You'll appreciate any med savings you can find.

I found this place by chance as was walking past and saw a line out the door , it looks like a tiny pharmacy storefront.

So me being the highly intelligent inquisitive type ventured inside to see what was going one and low and behold it was masses of people filling their prescriptions on the cheap.

I asked the gentlemanly proprietor if all were welcome to purchase at the fair discounted rate and he said it was absolutely possible to do so and that he was an Alumni of Michigan State University and was therefore quite fond of Americans.

Noodles give a go and let us know if the diarrhea meds worked.

You should call them , if your Thai is not that good have someone call them to ask - or PM me as I can speak Thai very well.

They most likely will have it or a generic equivalent - it is midday now so they are open.

    Don't bother Terry.

Fake medicines can contain harmful ingredients such as rat poison, boric acid and lead paint.

They are often produced by people with no appropriate qualifications and can include too much, too little or none of the active medical ingredient which cause harm to patients and can sometimes lead to death

This idiot of an OP might believe they are the real thing, or that they are generic versions of the original product, when in all probability they are in fact Counterfeit medicines made in China.

Noodles you've obviously got no idea of what you're talking about. The OP isn't talking abpout some street vendor selling knockoff viagra from a table next to Asoke BTS.

The place is a wholesaler. Where do you think pharmacies buy their supplies from? Drug company reps supply some items The rest comes from wholesalers.

Get a grip on life and not just yourself.

Noodles has a point , obviously what looks like a very busy established wholesaler in Bangkok could be operating under the guise of selling cheap packaged rat poison from China.

try one of the pharmacies outside siriraj hospital, on the road leading down to the boat piers.

when i grumbled to a doc. at bumrungrad about the exhorbitant cost of medication there, he said you dont have to buy it from our pharmacy, and suggested phetcharat pharmacy by siriraj.

genuine meds at about 40% to 60% cheaper than bumrungrad.

signage in thai, little english spoken, good friendly service.

I almost ran out of Allupurinol whilst in Laos in March, went without for one day and then purchased some from the chemist near Robinsons, Suk.

Spent most of June laid up with the worst gout attack for years. Gave remaining tablets to clinic in UK, they called me to say 'dont know for sure what these are but thet are not Allupurinol'

In fairness this problem is starting to happen in the UK also, best to stick to Boots chemist i think.

i had to take medication in thailand for a spell and a fairly rich thai friend told me that it was only safe to buy from the hospital .
he may have been wrong but i decided to take his advice even tho it was a hassle to get there and back.
best to play safe where medicine is concerned and being a long way from home to boot.
guess it also depends on what it's used for.
aspirin for a headache would be safe .
    viagra !!

local village hospital was the cheapest for anything i ever needed.
doc had to ok it first, then authorised.
i only ever bought formaldehyde for my catfish and had much explaining to do after i told the pharmacist it was for personal consumption with pepsi, as a hangover cure!
you can buy all kinds of shit that should be prescription only stuff, often at the local mom-and -pop-shop but i wouldn't recommend it, since it could be dangerous: not due to the medication being sub-standard ('though possibly out of date), but since the seller hasn't got a clue about the safe usage of the drug.
there is a very good reason why prescription meds are only supposed to be prescribed by a licensed proffessional, so i would go with what your mate said and buy from the local hospital, after the doc has authorised it's sale to you.

Most meds sold in Thailand are made in India. The efficacy is questionable, but the price is usually way cheaper than in the West. Think a course of 500mg antibiotics was Bt80 there; same in Canada was C$86.

tried to buy some stuff at one of the isaan "chemist shops" once.
i needed info on the strength of the stuff.
out of the ten or so "pharmacists" i consulted, some knew how many milligrams of the effective component the tablet contained, but not ONE knew how many milligrams there are in a kilogram!
all of these idiots are happy to administer medication to anybody who presents them with a set of symptoms.

How about just eating healthy, losing weight, and not being a fat fuck?

It's been shown that's the best way to lower your cholesterol.

Thanks Ghandi for the tip. Nice to see Noodles being consistent in being uninformed, and being an ass. Explains a lot about his political 'views'
