These lucky men live in paradise.

Yep, they've all got one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel- ya gotta punch out the clock somewhere, though, and there are certainly worse places.

The men are all sat there thinking "I wish these brown peasant bitches would open their legs without demanding money"

The women are all stood there thinking "I wish these pasty big-nosed dinosaurs would hand over all their money then go home"

    Paradise.

My wife recently bought me a pair of camouflage shorts, not unlike the ones the fellow on the right is wearing. She was so pleased with herself, I tried to explain that there was no way on god's earth that I'd be seen wearing them...

What happened to the paradise I was relying on?

Why did I spend this month's rent money on beer?

Is my "tirac" really ill so can't meet me tonight?

How can I avoid becoming the guy sat next to me in a few years?

Why is it so F***ing hot at 6pm?

Will I get caught working illegally this coming week?

It might not be paradise, but it's as close as it's gonna get and besides it's better than where I come from.

Beer is so cheap here, I don't mind spending all my rent money on it now and again. Keeps me smiling.

I know my tirac is not really ill, she has to say that to keep me sweet. I don't mind though, it's her job and I can always get another when she's not around.

I can't believe that guy next to me is still going, good for him. He'd never have lasted this long back in the UK.

It's really hot on an evening but it sure beats the wind and the rain back home, I don't even need aircon now, just a fan does for me. Can save more money for beer.

I'm not too worried if I get caught out cos some of my best mates here are influential people.

and he just stands there, waiting for me to drive my truck straight through him, with LIGHT coming out of his mouth!

For a n00b, you've really got the handle of it. I reckon you'll be alright. Not sure about your relationship though.

When I first moved to Indonesia someone told me you can move places but you can't run away from yourself. They got the wrong idea as to why I was moving but the thought still works. I'm a happy bastard that just can't get rid of the smile on my face. I could walk through a hailstorm, slip on a dog turd and lose my wallet but still smile at a fluffy bunny.
    Some are just miserable fuckers.
No matter where you put them they will just see the problems and scowl.
Be happy dudes. It's a lot more fun than crying.

So, robot is just that - an unhappy peon, bitter and angry for punching the clock in some western country, telling himself how great he has it (*cough* smeg *cough*), and unable to fathom that some people actually well with the choices they have made, to live in Thailand.

Not to say that there aren't n'er do well expats taking up space, spending their days and nights being bitter and angry (mostly at themselves) who fit the stereotypes - but those guys are easily identified by the continuous criticism about all things Thai, anger at a situation they can't change and that they are stuck with, and their self-imposed prison (mental, financial or emotional). Really, every thread started on here about how terrible Thailand is, or how dumb the Thais are, or how desperately they are clambering for attention, keeps identifying that lot.

I also see plenty of guys who are happy with their lives, that have a happy family life, and that are doing well for themselves -- and I couldn't be happier for them. Good on them.

As for the angry and bitter ones? 55555555555

Is it just me, or is the one in the blue top a dead ringer for Sir John Gielgud?
