understand panama as I have experienced the falling off of several of the fruits already, the one in the pic is bay far the largest that has been on the tree to date and I suspect it too will come off soon. good tip about considering to remove the fruit before it gets to largs and damages the small young plant. thanks.

Bananas take about 14 months to have a good bunch, which variety is it, SEAT? Also, remember to place a plastic bag over it to protect it from insects[/quote]

i don't have a clue what variety it is. the tree does seem to be somewhat small though. I did not realize that a plastic bag should be put over the flowers so the insects can not get to them but I now realize that that is the case because I lost all the flowers to insects about 3 weeks ago. I'll know better next time. thanks for the tip.

More great pics, thanks guys. I'm going to post a few of the airport. This is the view I have from an office that I work in around once a week. I have a special affinity to Terminal 3, the Emirates terminal because my husband was involved in the construction and opening of it. This was the job that brought him (and later me) to Dubai. There's a Metro Train station right at the terminal that you can see if you squint really hard.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn't very clear that morning, a few days ago, we've had lots of foggy days.

I am by no measure even slightly knowledgeable about banana plants, they just happen to grow in the same areas as rubber trees and I ask the odd question. Cavendish bananas are said to be the most sturdy variety, though banana plantations are renowned to use a lot of pesticides.

Hope it grows and gives you lots of healthy fruit

Yes, no Jintara tomorrow and those concerts are now pretty crap due to takeover of the radio station 94.5 fm, all done on the cheap now, which was probably Jenpops downfall yet again. maybe she will be there next week, not heard yet.

^Yeah. I went last Sunday and couldn't figure out what had happened. Just not the same thing at all. Too bad. Is Jintara being rescheduled?

    *sighs heavily in disbelief*

About to crack open a btl of scotch, so went to the new restaurant outside my condo to pick up a few bottles of soda.

    In Thai:

4 bottles of soda take away.
take away? *looks at me like I have 5 heads*
    Yes, for my condo.
*pauses for minute*... you don't want them here?
    No, take away thanks.
*slowly retrieves 4 bottles from the fridge in front of us, takes them out the back*

10 minutes later I only get given 4 plastic bags full of soda, each tied with an elastic band.

    God help these people.

The 7 is 50 metres past the restaurant. Which is opposite my condo gates.

Didn't count on being given 4 elastic band tied plastic bags.

    I wouldn't of.

And yes, I certainly thought so.

50 metres to the 7 next time. Will even save 1b per bottle.

Hard not to go to 7 and just let their stores disappear...

I asked our mum and pops store if they could stock Gatorade as all the 7's have closed in my area and I'd buy it everyday. They said no.

Calle Ocho,…….a street party held every year in Miami, during the month of March. It runs 16 (plus) blocks,….just a sea of people.

And one great thing is, drive 20 miles or so west on Calle Ocho (it becomes the Tamiami Trail) and you wind up here, in the Shark River Valley:

You know, I've wondered about that for some time. It may stem from a time when the Everglades was not understood for what it is- an enormous "river of grass". No sharks in the Shark River Valley, that's for sure.

Here, this webpage provides an explanation:
    Shark Valley 01-19-06
The everglades is a river. A very wide, very shallow, and very slow moving river. It used to be the width of the State of Florida, before it was drained to make room for people. All along the edges of this one large river are smaller "mini-rivers". These mini rivers are deeper than the rest of the everglades, and usually have a tide. Often they are brackish or even salt water. You find these rivers along the area where the everglades meets the sea. One of these rivers is named the Shark River. Above, you can see Shark River Slough. There are many sloughs in the everglades, each one eventually feeding into or becoming a river. Before the system was screwed up, the Shark River Slough was the primary flow path for the everglades. Today, it is still a major flow path - but not like it used to be.
