Open day at the Taksin military camp, Chanthaburi

This restored section of the old city wall is inside the Royal Thai Army (Marines) grounds, Taksin Camp on Tha Luang Rd.
It was in existence prior to King Taksin the Great arriving here 1767.
Interesting area, the French used the base when they occupied Chanthaburi province 1893-1906 and there is a group of buildings from that era also recently restored.

Prag, went to Chao Lao last visit and not been for a few years - seems there a lot of work going on to stop beach erosion.

The midnight sun today at the Norne field, 66 degrees north, Norwegian Sea.

At this time of year in these latitudes the sun just dips down towards the horizon, doesn't quite reach it, and then start rising again.

No big deal for the Scandinavians but I still enjoy seeing it.

Interesting story about where that might originate from.

When the British were having a wee bit o' argy-bargy with the French, the Frogs would cut off those 2 fingers of any captured archers.

So to tease the Froggies, the archers would line up an' give 'em the fingers before shooting off their arrows.

No idea if it's true, btw.

I had to put the sheets on it to protect it from the sun since it is not outdoor furniture.

It originally belonged to KLF before she bequested it to me in 2013 upon her departure back to Gowlee.

You can see the original deep chocolatey brown has given way to a faded tan colour.

More than half the furniture in my house was given to me by various girlfriends when they left me.

I am not sure why they do this. I think they feel sorry for me.

KLF sent me photos from Paris and Dakar where she went on a brief holiday in March this year so I am hoping she will come and recline on her sofa again one day.

I assume Miss Fils was chosen for her particularly nice foot stool?

I seem to recall that KLF was paying a mere $300 a week which seems amazing given the size of the place and the crackling good view.

    Post a photo a week, of anything/anywhere-img_3419-jpg

But that was back in the depth of the 5 year property slump.

Miss Mindanao is paying $480 a week for a tiny 2 bedder, also in Surfers. ...which she shares with 4 other flips

My furniture bequest includes the table and chairs too.
