Ive never bought into the myth that how you look is completely irrelevant in the world of beer bars,girls and bar fines.
If you are young and good looking sitting in a bar beside an old fat guy the young guy will leave with the better looking girl. Its a fact of life no matter where you are in the world. Ive sat in my mates bar in second road and watched girls knock back ugly badly dressed guys who were practically throwing money at them.
If you make a bit of effort with your appearance they do appreciate it. The girls will approach you first and be a lot less grudging when it comes to the end deal.
Sure the fat guy in the vest may get the girl sometimes but he will always be last choice and he will have to live with the thought that she hates him.

Yes it does matter how you look. If you dress deliberately loose n casual and keep yourself unshaven for a night out in Pattaya the girls tend to leave you alone more, which makes for a much more relaxing evening. Essential to wear slip on slip off type footwear too, preferably a cheapo local brand- someone wearing Reeboks or even elaborate sandals is generally a tourist, and hence a magnet for Lady Drink leeches.

I get rid of unwanted attention by telling them I live here. Obviously I will only ever be a one night deal and never a "sponsor"
On the clothes question, I dress like shit most of the time and still get to pick anything I want.

Why do people wear suits to gogo bars?

To me it just screams "look at me, look at me, I'm displaying my (alleged) wealth", which in turn tells me that such a person is an imbecile, insecure, dull and usually too ugly to get anything without flashing the cash.

It is a sight seen often these days.
