Firing an Indonesian employee, looks like I'm in trouble.

Is that correct? Or is that normally only for staff finishing in an amicable manner?
    Legally speaking, you should:
    1. negociate first with him, explaining why you wanna kick him out of your car
    2. ask the permission to fire him to the relevant section in Depnakertrans
    3. continue to pay him untill you receive the requested autorisation
    4. if autorised, pay him a severance of two months salary since he has been workin 18 months for you.

As per Gratilla's post, be aware that cultural reasons, not driving conservatively, being late, being sick, (...etc), are not reasons that would lead to an acceptance of the terminaison of employment.

Did he pay tax ?, did you have a contract ?, was his employment registered anywhere ?, maybe he was never really employed by you

Otherwise it sounds like it is real difficult getting rid of an unwanted employee, might as-well go for a good looking Lady driver next time, one you want to keep

^^ tax, no (actually could be another problem there, since indo law says an enployer must pay the tax)

    Contract, no

    Registered, no

Apparently that doesn't make much difference.

Norty his uniform was not fishnets, juz normal black safari suit

About 10 cms separate the "o" from the "a". Even a fat fingered chimp ought to be able to differentiate the two. "w" and "r" much closer so forgiven.

Just demote him to toilet cleaning duties. He will quit of his own accord.

More trouble than you might expect. Drivers are privy to stuff you would rather not have the missus or others know.

Don't I know it! Problem is she who must be obeyed has a 6th sense about that kind of thing and regularly drills our staff, sometimes even pretends she already knows things and tries to get them to agree. Luckily for this chimp, I'm as good as a church mouse and never do anything which may come back to bite me later on!

She tried, since I was away for a week, he just refused, went home didn't work, fronted up at my house 5.30 am the day after I arrived home to argue with me. Quite a number of indo males will refuse to listen to the woman of the house

West coast of Sumatra could be a cheap option. Give him enough for a crumbly type of hotel

sell the car and take the bus.
If he's still around, sell the house and change address.
