Photography In Thailand

DonT know if it just me or my family here, but if you ever try to take a photo of THEM, they suddnely become rigid, clench their paws and refuse to smile. (when sober).

Every single photo I have of the family, be it Doi Internon, Chiang Mai, song Kran...whenever they realise the camera is on them they FREEZE, the arms come down to the sides, in clenched fists, the smile disappears (sometimes the women will put one leg forward in an attempt not to look fat) and they put on this Monty python expression, of the guy in the wellington boots with the knotted hanky standing at the seashore!

Is it just me?

i have family photos from all over the place, and it is STRIKE THE POSE....DOH!

Most Thais idea of photos is when they get there id done or when they are arrested, all this new age of everyone having a camera is all new to them.

For some reason I can't work out, just about every picture I take of my gf she has her eyes closed. Its worse if I count 1 2 .....3 . The only way I can get a picture of her with her eyes open is if I sneak a candid shot .

I have noticed the same. To get a decent photo of any of my family members requires patience, hiding ones self and a long lens. Kids and folk I haven't met, are no problem.

About 70% of the photos I take of my Thai faan sao are blurred, I'm still not sure if it's because she is vibrating or because of my lack of skill with digital cameras. My ego favors the vibration theory.

No mate I was back-scuttling her at the time, she told me to take picture and no talk shh, then she called Te lak who had just arrived and was in a hotel in bangers, bloody funny it was. Must have been her way of saying fuk you to him with out risking her income.
The next day she went off to Bangkok to see him and a month later she got back to Lamai and we picked it up again, nice arrangement it was and totally reciprocal, she would let me have the occasional night out with another girl, a very unusual trait for a Thai girl.

Funny, I have the very same inclination, when thinking about "SHOOTING" my in laws, hide myself in the bushes, with a very long lens, (with some cross hairs on it, a bit of height adjustment, windage etc, better than Christmas) but it wonT be a camera! Oh, please God, let me have my day!

Could it be due to flash conditioning? I know that I have difficulties keeping my eyes open even if there is no flash because of that. Recently for visa pics the poor girl taking the pics had to re-take them several times.....
