After 10 years in LOS, time to settle in the Phils...

The wife is from there but from the far north of Luzon, nice place but 9 to 12 hours road to Manila, poor hospitals...

Baguio is considered the second capital of the country, hmmm not that interesting to me...

So the choice seems to be more south of the capital, Cavite or Laguna area.
This is just out of Manila, 40 minutes to reach the heart of Manila (well if traffic allows!!!) and it is quite safe from Typhoon and flooding, at least just few days ago it was...

Cavite - Laguna area is like Chonburi to Thailand, where most of the new industries settle, plenty of good villages and good schools, supermarkets...

Some stunning beaches, lake side or sea side, and easy to reach the airport from there.

    Schools

Kids and school being one of the main concern with the move, we found out that prices in private schools seem much cheaper over there compared to Thailand...

10 K Pesos for kinder and 20 K Pesos for primary, but for the year and not the semester...

i trust much more the Filipino education system then the Thai, added to important savings...

Here for similar school it kinder is 30 k per semester and primary 50 K thb semester with many extras to come at the Lertlah...

Actually, it is. I would most certainly be mistrusting of such Christian indoctrination as opposed to Buddhist conditioning.

What about one of the islands. Cebu or Negros. Less crime.

But it is beautiful in the middle of the mountains and has a cool climate because of the height. It is therefore consisered the summer capital. Those who can afford it go there in the hot months.

Thats considered the second capital in the south. Probably right about crime. I heard allegations, that the police are running hit squads shooting down criminals rather than putting them to the courts where they may get released.

They have also this prison with the dancing inmates.

Cebu has everything, food, transportation, beaches, ladies. Dumaguete has everything and is much smaller. Davao great place also. In Luzon Subic is worth a look

I spent a few days in Laguna but was too isolated for me.

Laguna is better suited to quickly jump in a plane, therefor the choice, just 30 - 40 mins to Manila airport. Cebu will be third home there as the second is in the north of Luzon...

Laguna is industrially developing a lot actually, Batangas to catch a boat for one Island trip is not far off as well...

I think and hope indoctrination is less in the Phils then what i have seen in Thailand. National Antemn every morning, school song and then prayer, for half one hour and as it seems not to be enough for them they repeat this the near whole friday afternoon...Brain wash in my eyes and ears this.

A class room of 50 in Assumption led me to place my frist daughter in the Phills one year ago, she improved a lot, the teachers lost their main translator in her class room...

Some advantages in the Phils ( we still are in SE Asia...)

I do need some collaborators for my business, communication seem easier in the Philippines with english...Laguna speaks Tagalog, Baguio speaks Igorot and Ilocano, other problems!
Tagalog is easy to learn, i need 1 year to be fluent, 10 years in Thailand was not enough to speak well due to many factors...

Out of that one of my criteria to hire a secretary in Thailand was her ability to type with her 10 fingers, extremely difficult to find, but if you get one of those, she might well come far off the rest of the lot...

Probably 2 out of 3 secretaries in the Phils type with 10 fingers...

yes, you need 10 fingers to type, with a nik like yours!

seriously, does it matter if she can type fast enough?

Another person leaves LOS. Lots of people moving on almost every week it seems. If I had something to move on to, I might think about jumping ship too. Everything gets old over time.

Seems to be a lot of crime going down in flipper land, I mean a dude standing outside 7-11 or a bank with a shotgun at his side seems to put me off a tad.

    Good luck anyway matey.
