sometimes ya eats the bar, sometimes the bar eats you; what say you O Trolling Evangelist, I find I am pursued by the sins of the flesh, sometimes by several of them in cut-off shorts and halter-neck singlets, and very attrcative sinners they are too; am i weak, that I give in to this temptation?
    Is there hope of redemption?
Can I be saved (but not just yet, this is too good right now) ?
Yes, but must first seek redemption, something I fear you are not doing.

Dude!?? I'm starting to wonder why you even read this forum. Is it so you can judge people and then feel better about yourself?? Really???

No longer true. This one has been around for more than a year:

Royal Rattanak Hospital CO.,LTD. Tel: 023-366669 Health Care Service.

Affiliated with Bangkok Hospital group and gets very good reviews from expats who have used it. Make sure your medical insurance premiums are up to date, as it certainly ain't cheap.

Don't get really sick or have a serious accident anywhere outside Phnom Penh though. I wouldn't think medevac would be much use out in the sticks - you'd probably be dead (the Khmer doctors in the provinces will generally see to that) before anyone could organize anything.

Whatever the figures are, its clear that there are more foreigners living in Thailand than ever before and I agree with Butterfly that from the point of view of those of us living here its not necessarily such a good thing.

In the last couple of years we haves seen changes in the visa regulations making 1 month visa runs a no no for more than 3 trips. Then it was scrapped altogether and brought down to 2 weeks. Next we had limits on back to back tourist visas.
Clearly, theres a lot of fine tuning on immigration being done and there may be more to come.

These changes illustrate that someone in authority is concerned about the comings and goings of an ever increasing number of foreigners.
They are perhaps also noticing that unlike the ' old days ' when foreigners were not involved in many crimes, things have moved forward enough that we are even seeing the odd bank job commited by a foreigner.

When an American TEFLer was suspected of being a paedophile killer, it was not long after that a crackdown on cowboy TEFL ers was forthcoming. I wonder what would happen if a foreigner were to murder a Thai person from a very respectable level of society ? I know from my own experience that whenever some dipshit falang does something stupid and ends up on TV, the guy in my local cornershop likes to rib me about it and say " One of your lot " so there is a natural tendancy to tar us all with the same brush.

I don't feel scared or apprehensive about living here but I can see that the bar for living here is likely to be raised and raised again. This will probably be the usual thing of requiring us to show an ever increasing amount of cash in the bank but I also think that one day in the not too distant future, back to back Non Immo visas will become a lot harder to get.

As for being fleas on an elephants arse ....... true. But its easier to swat a flea than wrestle with a monkey.
I've noticed it myself, what with the UK going down the shitter and more people discovering flight, then there's that Big Trouble show in Tourist Thailand show, which would attract the type of farangs over here that are only going to let the side down further and fuck it up for the rest of us.

Anyway, maybe Chas is right, I should just enjoy myself and now that I'm single again simply find myself a simple lass with a bulbous top half.

    Oh dear!

    Let's go through it one last time - for the kiddies;

Only 5% of prostitution is for foreigners, the other 95% is for Thais. Prostitution was big business way before we came here.

Get real. There are far too many immigrants in the U.K. Compared to that, there are hardly any farangs in Thailand.

Farangs contribute greatly to the Thai economy and should be made to feel welcome. Don't bite the hand that feeds you.

For the last time Thailand - This is the 21st Century. GROW UP!!

Mostly by introducing a perversion on society.

Agreed - but there's always a lot of farang / expats that feel their sex life is such a significant contributor to the Thai economy, when they (and their contributions) are entirely insignificant.
