Does anyone find Ricky Gervais funny ?

I have just watched an interview with him on television and I am still at a loss as to why anyone finds him funny.

He keeps making banal remarks to the interviewer and laughing at his own jokes ,, while she keeps smiling politely .

That stupid dance he did in the office series was mildly amusing Ill give you that , but I really fail to see why he seems to command so much attention .

He seems harmless enough but I feel a lot of his success seems to be down to fashion ie. at the moment its fashionable to watch him.

Personally I find our PM funnier trying to explain to us in his dour way why we should vote for him in the upcoming elections
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

Proud owner of the most-punchable face in history.

Ricky Gervais is OK but, yes, I don't understand why he's become as famous as he has.

Can I be the lone dissenting voice?

Just watched one of his stand-ups a few hours ago. Not always clever, sometimes the joke's in the delivery. He does that well. Facial expressions and accent.

Bible & holocaust jokes were the best. Nothing new in taking the piss out of taboo subjects, but it was funny.

    But that's the idea!

I didn't like The Office, but, I though Extras was great.

If you were to ask me to name three geniuses, I probably wouldn't say Einstein, Newton... I'd go Milligan, Cleese, Everett. Sessions, Gervais.

I saw that too (the interview was about his new film "The invention of lying")

the interviewer was totally lost and had the pis taken out of her throughout

    he was very funny

It was all about lying, and she was never sure whether he was lying or not

Yes they do. I don't mind him, he can be quite clever with his humour when people think he's being stupid.

The ability to understand various forms of humour IS (EDIT: NOT) inversely related to intelligence (sadly, often lacking).

so you are saying that if someone understands lots of types of humour, they are stupid

and if they understand even more, they are even more stupid

I think you meant related to, not inversely related to
    I have reported your post

I'm with you guys. I find his style of humor amusing, especially when people around him don't get it.
