not a biased poll, not at all....

When it comes to Phuket’s ‘issues’, prostitution is the elephant in the room. It is technically illegal and receives relatively little official acknowledgement – yet everyone knows it happens. A night out in Phuket’s Patong Beach will confirm it. There are prostitutes in Phuket, and lots of them. Which of the following statements do you most agree with? Buying sex is wrong. The authorities should put a stop to it. Prostitution damages Phuket’s reputation as a high-end tourist destination. The authorities should end it. Prostitution brings tourists to Phuket and benefits the economy. The status quo should be retained. We can never get rid of prostitution, so we should legalize it and get it regulated.

And the results of the poll are rather telling as to why people actually go to Phuket and Thailand in general...

Well I am shocked; who'd have thought it?
Can PGaz have a poll to see if we agree with that statement first?Surely not in my sleepy hollow Chalong as well?

A night out Phuket Town will confirm it, too. A night out pretty much anywhere on the island will confirm it. The difference being, I suppose, that in Patong it is *all* foreigners seeking the services of prostitutes.

It's everywhere, silly poll, it's generic here.

The Chinese spread it everywhere and the yanks made it obvious but the locals are at it just as much as farangs are, you know, the local soapy massage section etc, but as with all woes, blame it on Jonny foreigner.

Just take a stroll down the Pier road from the circle and repost !!!

Every bar on the left has 10 girls dancing in the street and maybe 2 customers
Soi India - on the right is well populated - failing that just take a walk a few hundred meters up the Kata road - on the left there is a few places that have hordes of barely legal girls willing to entertain !

So I have been told !

Kan Eang has always been good but what spoilt it for me was that after the post Tsunami rebuild the prices shot up !!

I prefer the Tamarind - food is good and reasonably priced , and the staff always friendly .
Sailors Rest - used to be next to Jimmys Lighthouse - was good as well, before they relocated, but the atmosphere, and the kitchen, didn't travel well !!

Phuket is a shithole. Go to Bali instead. Everyone else is.
