We want to give a good dog a bad home.

No mongrel soi dogs full of fleas and scabies and lookin like that hairless ET that the kids in mexico killed.

Must be good with kids, good guard dog etc etc.

Anyone got one ??

Must be a boy.

But those dogs are for eating, he wants one to keep around the kids and do ordinary dog stuff, not to be a culinary delight like sTroller always looking for.

sounds like you need an OLDER dog, nawty.

my ex mother-in-law fits the profile you described:
docile, good with kids, etc.
she has been spayed, is a little mangy, but not totally bald, and pisses in the house occasionally.
easy to feed, just throw it a bowl of rice with some rotten fish or insects from time to time.
no need for a muzzle, the teeth rotted out years ago, and is quite happy to sleep on a mat on the concrete floor.
oh, it farts loudly in public, so is best left chained up in the backyard, to avoid possible embarrassment.

You have young children.

Don't get a 'second-hand' adult dog no matter how good it is reckoned to be.

It will feel strange and even distressed being moved from a home it is familiar with and then installed in an alternative.

Children, have a natural tendency to want to fuss animals.

It could be a dangerous move.

Seek out a pup from a decent back-ground, spend time with the same and let the children play with the pup, gently.

Raised correctly it will be a good pet and you can make it aware of the need to guard in due course accordingly.

Main thing being not to let visitors and strangers, pet it and play with it.

Keep it within the realms of the family for training, feeding, walking, and petting.

Take time with it and you cannot go wrong.
