It's going to be a bloody infestation!

    Aussies multiplying in great numbers

Australia is poised to be the world's fastest growing industrialised nation over the next four decades, a report in today's Sydney Morning Herald today says.
The population of New Zealand's transtasman neighbour is expected to be 35 million by the year 2050.

At the census last year, Australia's population was just over 20 million.
Australia's rate of population growth is estimated to be higher even than India's.
Australia is projected to grow at a rate of 65 per cent in the next 40 years, well above the global average, a survey by US-based private research body, the Population Reference Bureau, shows.

The population is already growing at the fastest rate since post-war migration and the baby boom saw it explode in the 1950s and '60s , figures released yesterday by the Bureau of Statistics show.

In the first quarter of this year Australia saw the biggest influx of migrants in almost 30 years of detailed figures. It gained about 97,000 net migrants in the quarter, about 20,000 more than at any time since Bureau of Statistics figures started in 1981.

The natural increase in the population - births less deaths - was also about 15 per cent higher in the year to March 31, than the previous year, the SMH report said.

The question is can Australia (the Continent) support that population from a point of view of water and food supply.
I saw an interesting doco a while back that suggested Aus was at about breaking point already.

    Through immigration . . . doesn't mean more Aussies . . . even less by percentage/birth . . . and more Kiwis!

As for the water issue . . . blinkers in the name of 'doing the right thing' . . . and people criticised Howard . . . morons

^&^^ It is a serious issue. Size wise there's obviously no problems with a population many times larger than it is now, water's a different story obviously.

The figures are incorrect as I believe the Northern Territory Police Force hasn't yet submitted last year's deaths in custody figures.

I wouldn't worry about it. At any one time, about 80% of them will be sharing a one-room flat somewhere in London.

Nothing but scum flock into the country.

Should note however the interesting quote from Alfred Deakin, the original architect of the "white only" policy which was actually aimed at Asians. Many Asians are whiter than most Caucasians.

"It is not the bad qualities, but the good qualities of these alien races that make them so dangerous to us. It is their inexhaustible energy, their power of applying themselves to new tasks, their endurance and low standard of living that make them such competitors."

Can't have this kind of riff raff polluting them Aussies.

water is a political story - mines like roxby have been allowed to rape the great artesian basin with impunity , which is fcuking up our ecosystem

Aust has large amounts of natural gas and access to large amounts of seawater.

we could be making lots of freshwater if the politicians were tough on the companies making profits for their share holders - especially the global corporate rapists like chevron , total ENI , BHP etc, they should be told to shape up or fcuk off.

I assume this massive increase must be due to lovely British backpackers impregnating the local women, it's a hard and dirty job, but somebody has to do it

At the south pole there are huge ice-fields breaking up. Just haul a few hundred cubik kilometers of ice in. Much more environmentally friendly than using natural gas for desalination.

Well it's not from the backpackers themselves. Because they have a tendency to be, well, murdered in Oz.

A couple of months ago there was that one that got away, 11 days on the lamb he was, probably impregnated thousands of Aussie women in those 11 days, read in the news they were going to make a film of it.
