Repo value . . . how to quanitfy?

I've just recently started looking at my repo points regularly, mainly due to copious amounts of daily reds from another poster . . .

There seems to be a correlation between numbers of posts and high repo points in many cases . . . looking through the lists it would be interesting to see some sort of points per post average (yes, I did my post grad in Economics - Booooring).

I've only posted +/-2800 times in just under two years (time well spent?), which is nowhere near the first two pages

Is it possible to get the stats on repo per post? Only Loy Toy has less posts than me on the first page (not a bad effort for a few months here, LY!)

Ah, what the heck, it's only pocket protector stuff anyway . . .

I think you can click on your own post to see its repo. But ask ant, he is the expert on the power of repos etc. It's his number 1 hobby.

Indeed. I've noticed in my studies that repos have the power to make some people very, very upset.

I remember when i first joined the board whoever was top of the repo list their greens/reds were about 20 points, now i think a green/red from NR is about 150 points, madness!!!!!!

    I hadn't even thought about the disparity in value . . .

So, complete fucknuckles like Jet can just red people daily because she wants to be an internet hero while normal posters find their value eroding (not referring to myself of course)

What's the value system then, in terms of 20, 50, 100 etc . . . how does that accrue?

    Weird system

You are quite right. Given the dispersion range of post counts, for comparison purposes a ratio is more meaningful than an absolute number.

Posting addicts and repo addicts (no need to mention names again) seem to be awarded more powerful repos, hence their insane obsession is "rewarded".

I'm not sure why, but probably because they lack a life elsewhere, their sole intent seems to be to build this up so that they feel they have some level of control over the board. Then, when they fire off their angry bitter repos on a daily basis, they have the audacity to claim that their power is upsetting people, when in fact such people are merely bemused by such nutty mouth-foaming behaviour, and want to catalogue it and take the piss out of it with others in a thread.

Let me know when you are ready . . . know the number before my green . . . (I'm guessing it will be between 200 and 300 . . .easy)

Its critical you don't ask for changes to the status quo, because if you do suggest a more common sense or mathematically logical approach, all of those who have grown up under the propaganda of the existing regime will redblob you.

And if you have a high redblobcount it can prevent you getting a Visa card.

Are you calling me an outside agitator?

Nah, no red avalanche, aside from the previous mentioned poster, and the odd one here and there.

Actually, when you look at the 'definition' or description it simply says

    I agree

    or

    I disagree

Shame it has to be defined by 'power'

Easy to work out yourself I would have thought? When you check your repo, your actual number is shown at the top. You know your number of posts, so you can calculate the repo/posts by dividing the two numbers.

Every one can only do it themselves though. My ratio is about 14 to start you off.

but this is my sticking point, this is what the open forum is for in the first place.. so it means more than that in some instances it's used as weapon to tear other people down most often newbies not unlike hazing.... and to many newbies they may be seeking a certain amount of acceptance in a "new community" so it's not necessarily as mundane or unimportant as some feel it is (usually the more well established forum personalities)..

it does become rightly or wrongly some form of reinforcement for acceptance to some, inclusion, acknowledgement or denial of your view point only in a more personal and individual manner...

Has anyone actually studied the value of repos and the effects they have on some, er, other people?

    Classic Pavlovian conditioning, isn't it?

Press the green bar, get a treat.
Press the red bar, get a shock.

Only differencce is that the administrators of DD's grand experiment are subject to the same experimental constraints as the pigeons. There is no control group.

In my detailed studies of you and Smeg I've noticed that, whilst you both claim others are obsessed by repos, you both spend an inordinate amount of time tracking, counting, talking about, posting and making up lies about repo. Even starting whole threads about it.

    It's really rather fascinating!

It was 51 points last time we did a thread like this.

I think someone worked out a points to posts ratio in that thread, too.

Do you really spend your valuable time studying methods used and the mindset of posters that track, count, discuss, post, talk and lie about repos? Are you so obsessed with repos that you imagine other people study them, and then study their study?

    Crikey, you need help mate!
