    My Worst Subject at School

Not my usual highbrow thread (cough), but daffy Duck, of all people, brought home to me how much I disliked Latin at school . . . though it was not my worst subject.

It may be interesting to see what subjects we actually sucked at . . .

Mine: Mathematics. I just managed to scrape through every single year . . . and surprisingly graduated Uni, undergraduate, with a degree in Economics.

Same with me. In HS, algebra did my head in, but geometry was OK.
Years later, did my final MPA project in statistics -- a multiple regression analysis. Go figure.

Sciences are, by far, my favorite subjects. I can still recall a surprisingly vast amount from those biology/anatomy/astronomy/chemistry classes.

Commerce and it still shows today.

My father is an accountant and I hated anything to do with accounts, ledgers, book keeping etc etc.

My favourite subject was tecnical drawing and that led me to where I am today.

French. Absolutely hated it. Thinking about "ecoutez et repetez" still makes me shudder. I also did German for one year but the teacher used to talk incessantly about the war, and what bastards the Germans were so that wasn't much fun either.

Hated Chemistry class, though was worse at Physics due to a lazy teacher that dictated her lessons for us to copy down rather than actually teach anything. No questions allowed, just write down what she said and study it at home. Useless bitch she was.

Was pretty bad at summer athletics too, thankfully a well worn hayfever note got me of the running track and onto the sidelines studying the girl's athletics instead.

Can't remember enjoying German much either with the eccentric Frau Baker. To this day the only sentence I can say in German translates as "I can speak German".

Come on, people, this thread is nothing without those little coloured lines showing us that we are not alone in our inadequacy!

didn't have to do ligion - got a note from me mum

got kicked out a few classes over the years for questioning whether the teacher actually knew what they were taking about - nearly got ejected from a college for dissent too.

I have mellowed a little as I have gotten older and learned to let other people have their version of logic.

I used to collect a pile of books the chem and physics teacher had confiscated from me during the term - my maths teacher would let me just read if I sat at the back of the class

Music class in the 3rd year was great, our teacher disappeared after the first couple of weeks and since they had no replacements we were just given a film to watch every week. Unfortunately class was only 1 hour long so the end of the film was always cut off.

Creating fumes and blowing things up was fun . . .
    The periodic table was not.

I don't think our class were allowed to do much more than the basic 'burn a peanut' experiments since half the time the gas pipes that were to fuel the bunsen burners were lit up by some chav's lighter. I used to sit there wondering if the gas tanks would blow.

For me it was German, 6 years of it and still got a D at O level. Strange really because I loved French, and found it really easy. Got 98% at mock O level and and A at the real thing and I did the whole exam in about 30 minutes.

French, definitely. Still had the remnants of a brummie accent back then- try wrapping that around French pronunciation!
