If it is true....Good on him.

    A TRUE STORY?

Outside Bristol Zoo there is a car park for 150 cars and 8 coaches.

There also used to be a very pleasant attendant with a ticket machine charging cars £1 and coaches £5.

This parking attendant worked there solid for all of 25 years , then one day just didn't turn up for work...

"Ho hum", said Bristol Zoo Management - "better phone up the City Council and get them to send a new parking attendant" ......

"Err no", said the Council, "that car park is your responsibility" ...

"Err no", said Bristol Zoo Management, "the attendant was employed by the City Council, wasn't he?" .....

    "Err NO!"

Sitting in his villa in Spain is a bloke who had been taking daily the car park fees amounting to an estimated £400 per day at Bristol Zoo for the last 25 years....

Assuming 7 days week, this amounts to 3 million six hundred & forty thousand pounds.

Either the Council or the zoo owe him for 25 years wages plus a pension. Poor bloke should sue the bastards.

Wonderful story Pom and god speed to him!

I know of a bloke who is doing the same thing at Bristol Airport and they have just realized and are trying to only now close him down.

prolly moved to airport, zoo's are soooo out of fashion these days and airport car parks are notorious for overcharging.

Nearly all car parks are pay and display these days.

    Doubt it's true.

If it is true, then I would guess that he never paid any tax on his income and should therefore be rigorously pursued by the UK authorities and be taken to task for his crime.

Why should others in the UK have to work so hard and contribute to pay for the likes of this man?

He is hardly a hero, at the end of the day he was stealing from the treasury and therefore the UK tax payer, in my opinion he is no better than someone abusing the welfare system.

I am sure and if the story is true he would have had to pay for and maintain the carpark in a proper safe condition otherwise the Zoo would of complained to the council.

I say good on the bloke for seeing the opportunity and following through with it every day and for 25 years.

The NHS in the UK is 'free', but of course it's not realy free as the money comes from the taxes or national insurance contributions paid by the working people, for an example, the cost to the tax payer of cataract surgery for a UK resident is around £750, if this guy has made nearly 3.5 million pounds tax free, then how many of these procedures could his payments have subsidised had he been paying tax like most people have to?

All that aside, one would think that this gent could find a more exotic locale than the Spanish coast. Not that there is anywhere less appealing than Spain. Nice place....I guess. Good for him.

Another true story. Once broke down in the Mersey tunnel on a coach during conker season. Bizzarre scene ensued when the rescue services turned up to find the contents of the coach with no shoelaces playing conkers. I want to be BG.
